Ummmm…pretty soon it is going to be the U.S. against the WORLD! We may have to start enlisting every American into the military to fight all these wars.

get ready to get drafted,Rumsfield was asked if we have enough military for a conflict in Iran…hmmm…so if we don’t have enough for Iraq, and Afghanistan, were we gonna get those soldiers…

Many more UN power countries are concerned about Iran than they were Iraq for a variety of reasons. The UN will be the vehicle to deal with Iran. France can take the lead.

I say let the british take the lead, since they are in top for world powers…i think greater than France…i think its time for us too lay back and watch the rest of the world powers handle it, and help them out as a last resort…because we cannot let China get involved in this or it will www3 with nuclear weapons…and our next target is Iran and then North Korea

The Republicans aren’t going to sacrifice their own children for Bush’s wars. They will sacrifice OTHER people’s children, but not their own. I relly doubt there will be a draft.

I think if this administration was stupid enough to call the draft, they would lose the remaining 35% support. Well, minus the current military who think their Commander in Chief is doing a bang-up job.

Nah…this will be a nuke campaign. That I really see, and then it might be curtains all around.

Tried fighting a war with Iran once, through a surrogate (guess who.) Didn’t work. Tried to prevent democratic elections. (Didn’t work.) Tried assassinations. (Didn’t work.)

This time “we’ll” (who’s “we”, KimoSabe), win! Just like in Iraq!

There needs to be alliances among the Muslim nations (pakistian, iran, syria, saudi arabia etc etc) so that US can no longer bully then nations in the Middle East.

I didnt include bangladesh on purpose because it has an extremely weak military and they’re poor as hell. Plus thieir politics is extremely dirty with countless assasinations and bribery. Bangladesh is one of those nations that will worsen as time goes by. Nobody cares about the nation anyways lol. I wish bangladesh was still part of Pakistan so that it’d have some respect in the world.

The alliance still seems like VERY good idea to me.

actually Bangladesh is coming around…i meants its only 36 years old…its an infant compared to many other nations,…but its starting to get industrialized and all the nation just needs is a better leader

and why do you think Pakistan will be so eager to work with Iran, when Pakistan’s best ally is US right now

Right. Start drafting people today because it takes 3 years to turn them in to a mediocre fighting force. That’s why the military and the Administration has been unequivocally against any suggestion of reinstating the draft while the left keeps bringing it up as if they think it’s a good idea. Of course, they probably don’t know any better.

BTW, the British might be able do some something against Iran but it won’t be enough. At that they’re head and shoulders above the other European forces in the most critical area: transport. This is part of the reason Darfur hasn’t received much support. The US is the only country in the world that could support it’s troops there. It’s out in the middle of no where with some of the world’s poorest access.

The problem with Iran is that it’s a long hard way from any European forces, particularly if you can’t count on the Suez Canal being open for your transports.

Don’t look for anyone but possibly Israel to do much about Iran in the near term and then only air strikes.

None of these conditions have even remotely been met to my knowledge. Note, too, that that’s for an air attack. An invasion takes much, much more very obvious preparation.

The nation needs good people, not just good leaders. Even the religious people there will commit sins for money :)

The Pakistanis dont like Americans/Westerners. If Pervez Musharraf tries to help Americans “too” much, then he’s most likely be overthrown by radicals.

There is no way we could invade Iran without a draft. If we go in w. troops, we wil need support from a country that won’t give enough voluntarily- so watch out, ladies and gents, because college won’t save us this time.

Anyone read Krugman yesterday? It was brilliant. Basically, his point was although it seems that anyone with common sense would know Bush COULDN’T possibly bomb Iran, we know he has no common sense, and thus probably will.

Gonna be a rocky ride, folks. Hold on to your hats.

Interesting. That was the military assessment several years ago from what I read (I have a nice, long quote on how Bush really does listen to his military advisors if you’re interested). Wonder why we’ve been negotiating.

Not that international diplomacy has helped. Things will get more interesting now that both Russia and China have reacted strongly to Iran’s annoucements yesterday. Even they have limits.

I’ll tell you Strick, I see much more of an imminent threat from Iran than I ever did from Iraq. It’s really a bit of a problem for the Bush administration, in that they have deployed all available troops to the wrong countries. We are spread so thin in Iraq and Afganistan, there is no military personnel for any ground war in Iran.

And if we nuke Iran, this will get very ugly very fast. Wonder what Russian will do? With whom will they side? India? Pakistan? N. Korea? Hmmmmm. Hope there aren’t too many itchy fingers…
