<p>I’d say it’s about a draw accounting for differences in timing, but, of course, but YMMV. Saddam was as great a threat to the region on the whole (more strategic positioned, proven willingness to use his power against his neighbors, all that) and he was as hungry after WMDs at the end as he was in the beginning. Within a year of lifting sanctions, he was more than capable of reconstituting his chemical and biological weapons programs and this nukes were probably only 5 years out. If you don’t believe recent stories that there were 20,000 Iraqi nuclear weapons specialists working on the “Libyan” nuclear program up until Qaddafi gave it up. That might have cut his lead time dramatically if true. Facinating statistic particularly given the timing of Qaddafi giving everything over to the US, don’t you think?</p>

<p>Its interesting that the Iranian people are more united than the Iraqis. The overwhelming majority share their hatred for USA and are quite willing to fight them. Add to that, the Iranian president is an extremely dangerous and bold man.</p>

<p>Iran isn’t listening to the UN. Incase you haven’t noticed, they’ve been playing games for quite awhile you. The leader of the Arab League said all Arab countries should obtain nuclear power (you know, for peaceful reasons…). Iran’s President has been quoted as saying the world will only last 2 to 3 more years.</p>

<p>I had a conversation about the draft with my son at dinner the other night. I think it will happen if we invade one more country. Don’t forget the sabre-rattling that Korea has been doing.</p>
<p>The more that Bush’s actions fall into disapproval with the public and the lower his ratings go, the more parents of senior boys shut off contact with recruiters. Acquaintances of mine that have supported Bush’s Christian right stance and supported invading Iraq in the beginning have been among the first to eliminate contact from recruiters. It’s amazing to me how vehement they are about it. So to whoever it was that said the Republicans wouldn’t institute a draft because they don’t want their children to go, I say you’re partially right. It’s not just Republican leaders that want all the other unfortunates to go, it’s also many who vote Republican. Unfortunately, the numbers will speak for themselves and when the military gets stretched too thin, the draft will be seen as the only thing that will keep the house of cards from falling.</p>

They’ll have another democratic election, and if they don’t like the current government head, they’ll kick him out and vote in another one, with policies much more different from the current administration than our Democrats have from our Republicans. That’s how they have done it, consistently, over the past 25 years.</p>
<p>The current nuclear policy was started by the PREVIOUS government, under Khatami. They understand full well that they are surrounded by hostile U.S. combat forces, recently used in combat, on both sides, and a U.S. Administration that is out of control, given to propaganda, attempted assassinations, support of military coups, support of dictators, and of military drug lords in the country next door. The Iranians may need decide they don’t like Ahmenidajad - if they don’t, they’ll elect someone else.</p>

At that time before the elections, Reagen said something along the lines of “if i come to power I will enter Iran and free the hostages”…and the minute it was announced that Reagen won, the hostages were released…that was when Iran was not powerful</p>
