The Scishow Challenge (SAT II)

Whilst exploring YouTube, I stumbled upon a channel called “scishow” (Okay, fine. I didn’t stumble upon it. I will watch anything and everything to do with Hank Green). The lectures were incredibly informative, and while I usually feel that I am talented in the field of science (particularly biology), these mini-episodes made me realize how little I know. I sometimes feel that, perhaps, these lectures are teaching me more than my actual teachers are. At the beginning of the summer, I took the SAT II for biology, and I’ll admit–I didn’t do as well as I expected. However, I think I’ve found a new way of studying.

Thus, I’ve come up with an idea for what I call the Scishow challenge. This is what the challenge entails:
-Choose a semester/summer in which you are NOT studying a certain area of science.
-During the course of this semester, watch all of Hank Green’s scishow and CrashCourse videos on that topic
-At the end of this semester, take the SAT II in that field of science–WITHOUT any additional studying (you can re-watch the videos as many times as you want).
-Compare your score with others who took an actual class in the subject
~You may use any resource that the videos link you to~

I’m planning on retaking the SAT II in eleventh grade (two years from now) after taking AP Biology (a class my school does not currently offer). However, I am considering retaking it earlier using this method.

If you are willing to take on this challenge…or you’re just a nerdfighter who’d like to talk about scishow and CrashCourse…then feel free to leave your comments!

DFTBA! (Don’t forget to be awesome)
