When the medical school screens applications,
if some body started volunteering, research, etc…
earlier like a frosh, does he have more chance
to get into med school if the other applicant started
later like sophomore ?

Assuming both of them has almost same GPA, MCAT,
volunteering, research, etc.

I think that adcoms look mostly at your GPA and MCAT compared to your ECs during application screening process to make their job easier. It would be during interview when your ECs would be most closely examined. When it comes to ECs, quality is more important than quantity, though both are very important. From what I gathered from this board, your experiences in ECs are basically useless unless you can speak about them intelligibly and enthusiastically to your interviewer.
