Great day for Switzerland!!!
Crossing my fingers that Wednesday will be a good day for Spain!!
Who’s winning the Mapletronic vs Wedgy from Majorca tilt? They’ve split the last 4, but it’s been as tight as Rafa’s drawers. Fed and Rafa must be super motivated. Who doesn’t want to see the old rivalry resurrected?
So funny. I like Nadal okay but can’t watch him any longer because of his whole routine - wedgy, shoulder, shoulder, nose, ear, nose, ear. Drives me crazy…
Wedgy was the invention of @Alexandre. Ha.
Has there been a match of Lucic-Baroni’s in the last 5 years where she hasn’t looked like she’s in the last stages of mummification?
A Coco-Venus-MLB-JoKo extravaganza would underscore how compelling the WTA is at the moment.
Congratulations to Venus!! Lucia-Baroni is wearing an Adidas shirt and a Nike skirt, I guess she doesn’t have a clothing sponsor.
The Rafa-Grigor semi was phenomenal tennis! And now we get mega-stars in both the women’s and men’s finals.
I am in California. My alarm went off at 5:45AM so I checked the scores and saw that Nadal was STILL PLAYING!! I got to watch the last game. So excited for Nadal (and Venus and Roger). Rooting for Fed and Serena, but really just hoping for great tennis.
I’m in California too. The wind woke me up around 3am. and I couldn’t go back to sleep. So I watched the last three sets. Great shot making. It was very close.
Intriguing finals. I’m hoping older sis can do the business or at least make a match of it, and anxious to see if Fed has learned to deal with his old kryptonite.
^^^Me too. Rooting for Venus and Roger, but all in all, what a fun open.
So happy for Roger!

Great match! Great result! Yea Fed!!
Dvr’ed the match. Amazing tennis!
Fed and Rafa are such classy athletes. They are a wonderful example of mutual respect between competitors.
Also, I thought I’d share some things I learned from my husband about the Australian Open, which may help future attendees. My husband and daughter went to the first 4 sessions in Melbourne. They bought advance seats for Margaret Court day sessions, where they were guaranteed seats for matches if it rained. It also guaranteed seating, in the shade since my husband (the red head) knew seats on the north and south ends of the court would be shaded. They also went to a couple of Laver evening sessions. He said he was happy he was able to see Rafa play on Laver by buying resale tickets…he got great seats at below face value, but with the service fee included a little bit over face value.
Going at the beginning of the AO meant you got to see everyone, though of course, you don’t see the high seeds playing each other. However an unexpected plus is that you don’t mind bouncing around side courts to see lots of players. Two highlights for them were on the practice courts. They watched Fed and Stan practice…and Rafa and his team…my daughter was in tennis heaven with being so close to them…seriously, the pics she took looks like she was within 10 -15 feet of them at times…they stood first row along the service line.
Lastly, they stayed at the Crown Towers. They liked staying there’and it was within walking distance to the tennis. A huge bonus was that lots of players were staying there. My husband who has followed tennis closely his whole life, recognized dozens of players. Oh, and on their first day, they rode the elevator with Monfils!
Well done Serena and Roger. Again!
The news about Roger is the best news of the week for sure! Thankfully there is still someone with grace left in this world!
Roger brings some balance back to these crazy times!! FedFan forever!!!
Roger looking very sharp in first match back since AO. 6-1;6-3 over Paire (who I really wish wouid stave off his hideous beard.) Paire received warning for unsportsmanlike conduct after he threw his racquet. He’s lucky he didn’t hurt anyone. It appears to me the light punishment the young Canadian got when he broke the umpires face is a green light for players to continue this horrid behavior.
Anyone going to Indian Wells? I am going to go on Friday. I just head that Serena pulled out and they will have to reshuffle the draw.
