Wow, anyone watching tonight?? Del Potro/Thiem??

@surfcity, wasn’t that great? I was feeling a bit sorry for Thiem.

Great match! I was annoyed that they cut away and then put it on split screen with Federer . But, I’m sure they have to balance that for all the Federer fans.

Great match! DelPo looked awful when they started.

We were sure he would retire before the third set started! I did not think he had it in the tank any more.

Had to follow JMDP/Domi on our way home. So happy for JMDP but sad for Domi.

When DelPotro goes up against Federer, it’s hard to say which man will be the fan favorite. I’m torn myself.

Thank you KAndy. Should have wrapped it up in 3 though.

The mere thought of Querry in a GS final was very disturbing to say the least.

As for tonight - my head says Rogi but my heart wants JMdP - but it will all depend on who wins this afternoons match who I pull for.

Thanks Maddy for sparing us CoCo in a GSF!

Sad for Rogi but v happy for JMdP! Now just needs to go snatch the title and all will be well in TennisWorld.

I’m not a huge tennis fan, but I be taken a liking to Sloane Stephens. I’ve never laughed so hard watching her interview and some sort of bug starts buzzing around her head. She literally fell off her chair. This unseeded woman just upset everyone, and she is still scared of bugs, too cute!!

I am happy for Sloan and would have been happy for Madison, I just wish it was a better match.

Very interesting back story of Stephens and Williams coach. He grew up on the south side of Chicago, and went to an HBCU on a tennis scholarship. He went on to get his MBA at the same school, and had a lucrative career in the pharmaceutical industry. He decided he wanted to coach tennis full time , so he quit.

@partyof5 Kamau Murray is a very interesting guy, although I don’t think he ever coached either of the Williams sisters. I think the only other pro he’s coached is Taylor Townsend who is no longer working with him. His full-time gig is running his foundation/junior program for underserved youth in Chicago. I hope he continues to have tons of success with both the pros and the kids!

@anxiusmom Yes I knew he hadn’t coached them. The article I read about him listed Sloanes last name as Williams so I meant to put a slash instead of an ‘and’. I wasn’t sure if the article was talking about a completely different Sloan or she changed her last name at some point.

Terrible final.

Maddy was so dreadful all Sloane had to do was keep ball in play.

So sad that Sloane lost her father, the former NFL player John Stephens who died in a car accident back in 2009. I wish that somehow he could see what his little girl grew up to do.

I think Maddie will be better next time. The situation just overwhelmed her, but with I believe she has it in her to improve her defense and neutral ball skills. If she does she will continue to be a real force in the game.

The woman from ESPN doing the post match interviews/trophy presentations is driving me nuts. She sounds like she’s hosting a Miss America pageant.

^Chris McKendry.

She’s ESPN’s “host” for slam coverage and just babbles on and on about nonsense and asks stupid questions for the whole two weeks.

Blech.

I really wish they’d find someone other than Chris Evert to call matches. In the Stephens/Williams match, she said that Venus was tight because it’s hard to play someone younger because you’re expected to win. Then in the Stephens/Keys match she said it’s hard to play a peer. Which is it?
