@partyof5, for the sake of my draw, can’t you let Maria win once in 15 of the last tries?
@emilybee Ha! No can do, I’m ticked Serena dropped in ranking after having the baby. I need her to wipe the court and show them she is still the queen!
Sorry Serena had to withdraw!
Super bummed Serena had to withdraw. I didn’t see the doubles yesterday, but wondered about the 0-6 third set.
Well I’m happy. ducking
Also, so pleased for Angie and my wee Diego (who I had getting to qrts in my draw
)
So, who had Cecchinato in their draw?!?!?!
Well, I’m out of the women’s draw - Mugu was my last one standing .
Will pull for Simona in the final as I can’t bear to hear anymore about her not being able to win a slam.
I’m still alive in the men’s - have both Domi and Rafa into semi’s and I’m in the top 11% of all draws submitted.
And even with losing Elaine, Kiki and Aļona early I’m in top 35%.
I inched up to top 7% in men’s draw with both finalists correct. But, I would have loved to have been wrong in Rafa match. Very disappointing performance from JMdP.
Will be pulling for Domi but Rafa winning is pretty much a fait accompli.
Yazzzz!
Congrats to Simona! Well played.
Happy for her.
I really wanted Domi to win but Rafa was my pick in my draw - so 30 more points and I moved to # 234 out of 4075 entries (top 6%) so yay for me!
I was dreadful in my women’s draw. #1724 of 2885 (top 60%)
Rafa speaking to the crowd after a win at the French Open - a Spanish man speaking to the crowd in French and English - brings such a smile to my face. Way to go Rafa!
Great win by Rafa. Such a sweet guy. Touching to watch him tear up.
Has anyone watched the Serena documentary series on HBO?
Draws are out.
Serena gets a bad rap sometimes, but if I had to deal with some of the crap they put on her I would have an attitude as well.
So now we find out she is drug tested more than any player, male or female. X(
I don’t know if that is actually true or not. According to USADA:
USADA spokesman Brad Horn offered a potential mitigating factor to the seemingly high number of tests, telling the Associated Press that the five tests came from three visits to Williams by the agency’s collectors. “It is standard practice on many testing missions to obtain both urine and blood samples, resulting in multiple samples from a single testing mission,” Horn said.
Meanwhile, why oh why did I trust Sloan to win even a few matches after a great result at RG?!? I knew Donna was good on grass but thought Sloan surely wouldn’t flop so early again. SMH.
Then I found out that ESPN is now charging $5/month for all court streaming.
I’m so in a bad mood from that already.
At least Vika won and one of my finalist (KaPlisk) after a pathetic second set, rolled in set 3.
And why Borna, why??? - you just beat Rogi in a final and you couldn’t even win one match at Wimby. Pfft.
Yes but the problem is she has more visits. I mean really, she has more than the women and men. That’s disparate treatment especially considering she hasn’t failed a test.
I don’t know. According to USADA she only had three visits. That doesn’t seem like a lot, imo.
Also, Deadspin only has number of visits for other US players so we don’t know how many times players from other countries are being tested.
“According to a USADA database, Williams has been tested five times so far in 2018. This total—which doesn’t include the June 14 test mission, which did not come to fruition—is more than twice that of other top American women’s tennis players. According to the USADA database, Sloane Stephens was tested once; Venus Williams was tested twice; Madison Keys was tested once; Coco Vandeweghe was tested twice; Danielle Collins was tested zero times; Alison Riske was tested zero times; Bernarda Pera was tested zero times; and Taylor Townsend was tested zero times. Williams was also tested more than any of the top five American male players.”

And it can’t be because she is black, since Sloan, Taylor and Madison are also black.
I think this is much ado about nothing.
@emilybee I never said it was because she was Black. Clearly that’s not the case because she has been tested more than her sister. As my post stated, it appears she has to put up with more crap than others.
There’s always a comment about her body, now it’s the testing , they don’t like her attitude, reporters asking her if she is intimidated by Sharapovas looks. I mean wth?? I think she is treated unfairly.
Although I understood the cat-suit, I was happy to see Serena in a dress today. I am a little conflicted about Roger switching to Uni-glo.
