My Domi won but why did it have to be against Rogi?

On to Miami. I’m curious how the new site is going to work out. I loved Key Biscayne.

I’m more of a hockey fan than a tennis fan but I have to give a shout out to Bianca. She trained for years at my husband’s club! Everyone there is so proud of her.

@alwaysamom - Bibi is playing Angie again tonight. I don’t know how she hasn’t toppled over from exhaustion yet.

Liking the new color of the courts, but the stadium court doesn’t look symmetrical to me and I find that disconcerting. It also certainly doesn’t have the ambiance of Key Biscayne, either. :frowning:

MC final. The Fog v Lajović.

Cannot say this is who I thought would be in the final.

Who’s ready for the draw to come out for Roland Garros?

Interesting draw. Thiem, Federer and Djokovic have slightly tougher quarters than Nadal, but this year appears to be wide open, with Nadal, Federer, Djokovic and Thiem all having looked vulnerable at times, and Tsitsipas, Fognini, Medvedev and Del Potro all looking unusually good. The Big 3 have won the last 9 majors. Will someone new finally break through.

Rafa has a cake walk draw.

Rafa will win his 12th RG.

I’m leaving for Iceland Sunday and won’t be back until Tuesday of week 2. I’ll keep up by listening to daily pods in the evening when trying to fall asleep.

I’ve also got TC Plus so if I have any down time I can tune in for a bit.

Has anyone seen Mirka Federer at any of Roger’s matches at Roland Garros? It seems so weird to not see her in his box.

UCMom19, their older twins are close to 10 years old. That means school exams this time of the year. I assume she will be in attendance when he plays Wawrinka on Tuesday.

Kept up with scores and tennis pods while away but didn’t see one match until yesterday in airline’s lounge. Saw from midway in second set of Domi/Gael match and the Simone slaughter Swiatek.

I’ll go back and watch the must see matches from first week when I have sone down time.

My draw - especially on the women’s side - is a freaking mess.

@UCMom19, Mirka and the kids are home in Switzerland.

@Alexandre, The kids’ teachers travel with them so I don’t think that is the reason.

@emilybee Thank you so much, I figured they had a tutor that traveled with them.

Glad RG is finally over. What a mess the FFT made of it.

I had Domi/Rafa as my final picks with Rafa winning - which pulled me up from the nether reaches to top 13%.

I’m also happy that Djoker lost in the semi’s. What a whiner.

Happy for Ash but it was a snoozer of a final.

Was really pulling for Theim. Rafa is a great player but I hate watching him with all his ticks. Ready for grass.

@scmom12, me too. Would have happily given up points to have been wrong.

Don’t know if the outcome would have been different if Domi didn’t have to play 4 days in a row but it surely would have been more competitive the final two sets.

Nadal was fortunate to have his QF and SF matches played in relatively good weather, allowing him to end his matches uninterrupted and quickly on Tuesday and Friday respectively. The same cannot be said of Thiem, who had to play his QF match on Thursday instead of Wednesday, and his SF on Friday and Saturday.

The SF between Thiem and Djokovic was the best match of the tournament. Sadly, it exhausted Thiem.

There is no doubt that Nadal was a major recipient of favorable scheduling. Had Thiem played his QF match on Wednesday, and had he played his SF match early on Friday, before the storm hit, I think Thiem would have had a much better chance of beating Nadal in the final.

With the roof set to be functional before next year’s RG, I think Nadal’s streak will end.

@scmom12 Right there with you. Not a fan of all the picks, pulls, tucks and tugs, ick.

Wimbledon! Last month I toured the grounds and the museum. Both were very interesting for tennis fans. But compared to the grounds and facilities at Indian Wells, Wimbledon seemed cramped and not as spectator friendly. Has anyone been to both?

I have never been to IW, but I have been to Wimbledon several times. I am not surprised that Wimbledon is more cramped and less spectator friendly. For one, it is located 6 miles from downtown London. Also, while IW has been played for over 40 years, the current site and facilities were built less than 20 years ago, making it one of the newest major tennis venues.

I’ve been to Wimby several times. The main reason it’s so small relative to IW/AO/USO etc., is because it’s a private club in the middle of a residential neighborhood - like the West Side Tennis Club aka Forest Hills, where the USO was held before moving to Flushing and Kooyong in Melbourne - where the AO was held before moving to Flinders Park.

The AELTC did just buy the adjacent golf course so will be expanding. I think the plan for that part will be practice courts as those are now at Aorangi Park. They will also be used for qualifying tourney instead of at Roehampton…

The AELTC is the most beautiful tennis venue I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to many all over the world.
