What’s up with Radwanska, eb? I saw she’s out already but haven’t been able to watch.
^ I think she has been tinkering with her game too much, searching for more power by far and it’s not working at all. But clay is her worse surface by far - so combined with a game in tatters you get the hot mess she was yesterday. That thing Lotto put her in probably didn’t help her attitude on court, either.
Hopefully, she’ll get it together on the grass along with a new kit.
Ha! If you can’t play good, at least look good, or so my partner and I figured out years ago! She was playing great in Perth, but it was a hard indoor court.
Every time I see Radwanska play I’m amazed that she’s in the top 10, and that her coaches let her out the door with that awkward, truncated forehand and backhand. But she’s rich and famous and I’m not, so hey whatever works :))
As a player who has no power either, I like the way Aga plays. I can relate. She has to get back to what she does best and stop trying to change her game. She desperately needs to add some MPH to her serves, but other than that she shouldn’t try to be something she is not.
Speaking of horrible forehands - lol at Bouchard being bounced in the first round. The fall has cometh.
Shame Kiki couldn’t help choking at the end or Genie would have had bagel for lunch. Her crush is out, too.
Can’t wait for Wimby and those 1300 points fall off and she is relegated to the dustbin where she belongs.
How about Jack Sock? I could tell he was going to have a good season. Looking forward to seeing his game in person at the US Open (among others of course), we have our seats selected woo hoo
Got our seats today too! I really like Jack Sock. Looks like he and Pospisil squeaked out their first round doubles match. Happy to see that Stevie Johnson won his second round match.
Note to commentators: please, please, please don’t hype Sock as The Second Coming - I’d like to not hate every American player for once.
So happy for Mijana but how on earth does a #3 seed look so hopeless? She will never win a slam.
What days are you all going to the Open?
I am going the Wednesday and Thursday before Labor Day weekend. We have tickets in Louis Armstrong (in the shade) on Wednesday and have grounds passes for Thursday.
Right he’s just a kid - I’m not hyping truly, just nice to see some new blood
We have Labor Day weekend minipass, sitting under the press box in Ashe, will have to take our chances with the rest of the rif raf in Armstrong.
@Snowdog, the commentators I’m referring to are the ones on TV - not people posting on this thread!
I’ll be there Monday thru the Tuesday after Labor Day - but not every day as I’m sharing with my seats with my cousin. Same seats as last year (Louie in the shade.)
My new favorite cutie just took a set off of VB! =D>
Oh LOL. I’ve had the ESPN app on my ipad propped up next to my computer while I work. Have to keep the sound level almost off to get any work done so haven’t been listening to the jabber this week.
Well, today was a complete disappointment (minus Isner’s loss.)
Leaving very early tomorrow for my son’s graduation on Sunday (why are important things always in the middle weekend of a slam?) I’ll try to catch bits and bobs when I’m at the hotel. I am DVRing just in case someone I hate loses so I can enjoy it when I get home.
Next up Sock v. Nadal B-)
After that match can’t see Rafa beating Djoker.
Glad Mr. Federer had easy day at the office.
Yay for Lucie!!! Six times the charm.
As for Sloane, another useless WTA player.
I don’t see anyone left in the draw who won’t fold like a cheap suit against Serena - no matter how big a lead they build.
The way Nole is playing I am having a hard time seeing anyone beat him this week. Rafa was fantastic the first two sets…the Roland Garros radio guy said, “welcome to the big boy table Jack Sock!” at the end of the second. LOL.
He seemed to let up the pressure soon after however. Serve wasn’t good.
“welcome to the big boy table Jack Sock!” Brilliant!
I don’t either unless he trips and falls and breaks an ankle. Since I’m all about Rafa not overtaking Roger in GS titles - I am ok with Djoker taking it this year - unless Roger can pull off a miracle (if he even gets the chance.)
Kudos to Ana for making it back to a SF in 7 years!! And bless Lucie for guaranteeing Bouchard is out of the top ten!!! If she doesn’t make it to the qtrs at Wimby she’ll be out of the top 20 - where she belongs.
Grrrr…power went out with Lucie up 4-2. Still not on so I’m at the coffee shop. But well done for her making the SF. Tough conditions out there today.
I see Roger is already down a set. Boo.
Sad to see Fed go. Nice to see Ana Ivanovic doing so well.
