The University of Tampa Early Action/Rolling for Fall 2023 Admission

Just checked and official decision letter was posted but no mention of merit!

Do you think merit is being announced separately?

We haven’t heard yet

I think the acceptances are all over the board - both in-state and out-of-state and for all types of majors got accepted. But from what I understand acceptances are still supposed to be rolling out.

My DD is a junior at UTampa, and they have addressed the housing debacle that happened when she was a freshman by decreasing acceptances. As Tampa has increased exponentially in popularity, especially in the northeast, yield has gone up. As a result, less kids are being accepted/more deferred and/or waitlisted. There is also a new building under construction that will add housing for 600 students. It will be complete later this year.

That sounds great! What has been your child’s experience like at UTampa? What were the pros and cons for her? The main con I hear about is the housing - but it looks like that the housing issue is fixed.

I’m interested in this as well. The campus looks pretty amazing but my S24 is a little reluctant due to the housing issue, which sounds like it’s been cleaned up, and the low graduation rate. Only 50-something percent of students graduating in 4 years is concerning.

I too wonder about the low retention/graduation rate and would love to hear anyone’s perspective on this.

Merit is posted in the financial aid portal! $16,000 :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

Where in the portal?

In the finacial aid portal, click ā€œview my financial aid packagesā€

Yeah. I ended up finding it. I thought it was in the main admissions portal, but it was not.

I saw on the other thread that you found it :grinning:, but in case anyone else is looking, you have to click under the financial aid tab on the right, scroll down and click on the 2024-2025 aid year and a new page will pop up with a break down of costs and aid.

does everyone have the option to attend the honors breakfast during the admitted students day?

Congrats!! Was that posted just today? :tada:

Yes! I got the email about the financial aid portal yesterday or the day before but nothing was there until this morning around 10am or so.

Sure I’m happy to give some feedback. Honestly, my D has loved her time at UTampa. We are from north of Boston, so the awesome weather has been a huge plus for her. She lived in Austin Hall freshman year, Jenkins Hall last year, and is in an off campus apartment this year as a junior. That seems to be pretty typical. She said the dorm food was ā€œokā€, but is happy to be cooking for herself now.

I think the low graduation rate has as least partly to do with the fact that a lot of kids transfer out after freshman year. It’s far from home for a lot of kids (lots from the Northeast and mid-Atlantic) and many seem to love the weather/beach party scene a little too much. Like any school, it’s what you make of it. And lucky for us, my D loves it. Not going to lie, I am definitely envious of her when she sends pictures of her walking along BayShore Dr, and its 70 and sunny and I’m at home where it’s gray and 35. LOL.

We have not heard either. It is no longer on D24’s list but it seems odd that they didn’t just release all of their EA decisions at the same time given how late it is. Daughter applied in October.
