<p>As a probable future student at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (admitted for next year, not sure if I’ll attend), I was wondering what people on CC think is the value of attending a school like TAMS or one of the other schools that made Newsweek’s “Public Elites” list. Do you think that it is worth leaving behind a 2 and possible 1 ranking out of more than 700 students and a 4.5483 W GPA after first semester sophomore year (98.69 unweighted percentage) to attend such a school? TAMS for one offers amazing research opportunities and math classes beyond Calc BC (very important), but does the damage it could possibly inflict on college applications outweigh the opportunities? Any advice on whether or not TAMS, or any school like it for that matter, would be appreciated.</p>
<p>People put way to much weight into tiny differnces in the list. Besides, AdComs have their own ranking of schools based on more broad criteria.</p>
