Does anyone know if the Virginia Advocate is still operational? Has the magazine died?

10 Characters (BUMP)

Yeah it’s operational. They come out with an issue every month or two from what I can tell.

The Virginia Advocate is conservative and they use “gay” as a deragatory term which is a shame. They also attacked the LGBT community for hiring their new president just because “we (the gay community) expect another repeat of Margaret Cho (whom the current LGBT president brought it as part of a fundraising project at her old workplace).”

They’re entitled to their opinions, are they not?

wahoo2007, only liberals have opinions. Conservatives are just plain offensive! You should know that.

Of course they are entitled to their opinions, but don’t bash people for stupid reasons like demonizing the LGBT president’s position and status just because she “brought in margaret cho in her old workplace” and thinking that the gay community here expects the repeat. That is just plain offensive. And using “gay” as a synonym for stupid is just offensive.

Using gay for weird…well I hear it all the time, and I ask what’s the purpose of saying it. In a sense, it reminds me of people saying “That’s so ghetto”. It just became a popular phrase to say and while it is offensive IMO, people can say what they want.
