Thank you very much @lilyesh @gardenstategal, your suggestion and advice are greatly appreciated.
I donât know that you need proof, but I might tell them what you figured out. I.e., school fees for kid at home are less, we wonât replace car, gradparent agreed to chip in., etc.
You donât want to seem like you were trying to exploit (not exactly the word I want, but you probably get it) their generosity with FA.
Hi - FA may not be the thing that put you on the waitlist. That being said, I appreciate your parents wanting to help make your dream come true. If they needed FA originally, it is important to understand the cost of BS is beyond just the tuition books and healthcare (each school splits this up separately). There are support for clubs, trips, travel, some activities (again each school handles these items differently) and of course you can pick what to do and support/donate. I just wanted you and your parents to be aware that the cost of school is beyond what is listed.
Thanks! No I didnât email any AOs or submit any additional stuff aside from the initial WL form.
Thanks a lot, yeah, my family are pretty cautious and carefully considered the payment plan etc. And I am very appreciative for their full support. The reason we applied FA is because schools say they are need-blind, however, until recently we read posts about the need-aware/need-blind and realized we might be misled by the school propaganda.
I am not sure if FA is really a factor as you said, but donât want to miss the chance.
âYou donât want to seem like you were trying to exploit their generosity with FA.â â very good point, thank you very much.
Hi everyone. I have quick question regarding the waitlist.
Iâm waitlisted from a prep school for 9th grade for the 2024-2025 school year. For this school, my interview went great, essays were really deep/thorough, and my application as a whole was really well. The only thing I was a bit worried about was going test optional. A few weeks ago (Around 2 weeks after I got waitlisted), I had uploaded a document about my recent achievements and sent the admissions office an email asking if they have received it + asking anymore information they might want. A few days ago, I got my score for my schools PSAT 8/9 test and placed in the 99th percentile with my composite score, yet not the happiest about my my math score. Iâm a bit confused if I should upload my score to the portal or not. Please let me know as it would help me very much. Thanks!
If you think the score strengthens your application, send it with your letter of continued interest.
Remember that PSAT percentages are not the same as SSAT percentages. The test-taking population is different. The SSAT group is more competitive, so a 90% PSAT would translate into something lower for SSAT.
If you were TO, it probably wonât hurt to provide it.
A question, if I write a letter of continued interest, would it be okay to make it like creative and entertaining rather than droning on about why i like the school or why i am the one out of the large pool of qualified waitlisted applicants? or would the schools rather prefer just a formal email with updates and things? iw oudl really like to make it to these schools (as any other applicant would of course) and donât want to harm my chances on the waitlist.
Sent you a message!
No harm in making it your own, but be sure to clearly state whether you will accept an offer if extended presumably true, otherwise no point in going to the trouble) and including anything that wasnât part of the original application.
Creativity and originality are fine so long as the message doesnât get lost.
Any news on Waitlists closing?
Waitlists donât close unless the school is fully capacity or school year has started. And in some cases even after the school year starts.
The WL isnât closed for you until the school tells you so. They may send out something to boys or the WL saying it is closed, but they still may be taking girls. Or boarders. Or domestic students.
Remember current offer answers are not due until 4/10 and there are still some revisit days happening. So while schools are starting to get a sense of where they are with their 2024 offers, there may still be some unknowns for a few more days.
Have you heard of any of the top 10 boarding schools offering waitlist offers yet?
whoâs top ten? My top ten? Your top ten?
Sorry I meant the GLADSCHEMS? I have a daughter that applied to a few of them and she was waitlisted and we are waiting to hear something final.
Someone posted on a thread that they got off Andover WL. I know one person who got off Blair WL.
Is anyone off of Exeter or Lawrenceville?
