The Wait List

Good plan, the international students I’ve met said that virtual tours are very helpful.

yes thank you so much for help

You are very much welcome.

guys if you get put on the wait list, is there anyway that you can appeal to the AO’s, like for example. you got 1st place in some national competition, would that increase your chances?

By sending a letter of continued interest, that highlights your interest in the school, along with recent updates (awards/ec’s/grades, etc.).

Discussion of what to do if you’re waitlisted is better left until such time as you’re actually on a waitlist. Think positive until then.

Agreed. Better to wait to cross this bridge when you come to it. There’s nothing to do for now–unless you can win a national competition in the next eight weeks

not national competition but honor roll for AMC 8

Never mind.

Hi, decisions just came out around an hour ago, and I got waitlisted from my top school. I put myself on the priority waitlist, and I was wondering what the likelihood of getting off the waitlist is, and around how many people get put on the waitlist each year for 10th grade?

Hii would there be any tips for getting of the waitlist, choate specifically? Also how are the chances usually

It’s going to get pretty crazy for a few weeks while students who have multiple acceptance offers make decisions, schools look at how their expected yield is trending and if they have any holes in the classes to fill. Be sure to send a letter of continued interest, if it’s your first choice make it clear that you will accept if a spot from the wait list is offered. Be polite. If your current school has a good relationship with your target school a call from them might help — the quiet period is over and these would not be out of the ordinary.

Obviously not sending emails now but when the time does come should I send them to my admission officer or the actual admissions office? I honestly think my Milton AO may have been the only reason I even got waitlisted and I’d love to personally email her about how much I’d like to go in my LOCI

Does anyone know whether there is any chance of getting off the Deerfield Academy Waitlist for 11th grade?

They are my first choice of school

Read post #2477 on this thread. A ton of good info there.

Thank you so much

Will also share for those on a waitlist - if FA isn’t a dire requirement and you’re at a public school where you aren’t signing a tuition contract, continue to check in with your top choice school a couple of times a month until Labor Day. Ideally call, and build a relationship with the receptionist or administrator who fields calls. There is always someone who doesn’t show up at the last minute, and if they have an opening that late they are more likely to call you if you’ve been gracious, interested, and persistent. I’ve seen this work and know two kids who showed up with a day’s notice off the waitlist and it was because they built that relationship. The administrator at one of the schools was so happy to have a drop out, they called immediately to offer the spot and were so happy for him. It may not work, but people do change their mind up until move in day and spots do open.

Hi, I have been waitlisted at all of my schools except for one reject, what should I include in a LOCI?

should i send a letter of continued interest to my waitlists?
