<p>The Decemberists is my favorite band of all time.</p>
<p>ALL TIME! Their lyrics are poetry - literally, the lyrics can stand on their own as meaningful poetry. The folk-iness of their music is at once really tragic but uplifting in a simplistic sort of way.</p>

<p>I’m also a sucker for Maroon 5. Not every good band out there is born from total obscurity. Some of the top-40 stuff is quite excellent, in my opinion. Maroon 5’s jazzy influences and funky bass are pretty impeccable.</p>
