"The Wire" is on sale today

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Amazon has “The Wire” on sale today for $81.99, a great price.
It is Amazon’s Gold Box deal of the day, so it will only be this price today, or until it runs out.
I think “The Wire” is the greatest TV series ever and I heartily recommend it to anyone looking for something to watch on these bitter cold nights.
We got it as an early Christmas present and watched all 5 seasons in about 2 weeks.

My son is in love with The Wire; also a big West Wing fan. This would be a great birthday present for him, but for some reason he doesn’t like to own tv shows on DVD, only movies. He thinks the tv shows are a waste of money.

The finest tv program!

Darn it. I was just about to buy the entire West Wing and start watching it! I love The Wire.

We don’t get cable but I heard " the Wire" was President Obama’s favorite show.
We share similar taste so I tried it out. I don’t like it as much as " The Closer", at least some of the characters are much more annoying- I enjoyed this interview with Chad " Cutty" Coleman though.[Chad Coleman | Inspiring People | Living Louder | DanaRoc.com](http://www.danaroc.com/inspiring_060506chadcoleman.html) He * isn’t * annoying. ;)

“The Wire” is AWESOME! (Oh, Omar - how I miss you!) I knew Obama had exquisite taste…

O.K. people, I just bought the entire season from Amazon (having never seen a single episode) based on your recommendations. (I did the same thing last month after reading a post about The West Wing. I’ve got to stop reading these threads. I’m going broke.)

I miss D’Angelo Barksdale ( and I loved seeing Wood " Avon" Harris on House-via itunes the other day)

sarha, thank you for posting this! It’s my mother’s favorite series and I’ve only seen a few random episodes. Am looking forward to it!

I am unfortunately becoming as much addicted to Amazon’s Gold box deals as I am to CC. And it’s a more expensive habit. Bought D both Buffy and Angel in box sets. And got Arrested Development for us. They were all discounted by at least 60%.

i was lucky enough to have a public library that lets you borrow DVDs, including whole season DVD sets. We’ve never had HBO, so I only got to see “The Wire” when I took out the season one set for a test drive. Hooked since then, big fan of the show. that guy Omar rocks.

Another big fan here. My son harassed me for a year until I finally agreed to take a look. I got totally hooked and spent consecutive days going through the first 3 seasons’ DVD’s, often 3 or 4 episodes at a sitting, and then watched the remaining seasons in “real” time. But I didn’t realize how truly obsessed I was till I saw the play “August:Osage County” in NYC this past fall and found myself waiting outside the stage door like a teenager at “Legally Blonde” so I could catch a glimpse of Jim True Frost, the actor who played “Prez”, and get his autograph. We even chatted about the show for a bit, and I walked away grinning like an idiot.

The only trouble is, nothing on TV now even comes close in quality, and I can’t seem to find another drama that interests me. I’ve been spoiled.

Someone DONATED “The Wire” to the library where I work and it’s sitting on my co-workers desk, ready to be processed. Much less expensive then buying. The funny thing is, I’m so absentminded that I as I was reading this thread I was thinking, “Wow, everybody likes this show- maybe I should buy it!” and then I remembered where I had seen it last…

I haven’t seen “The Wire,” but over the holidays I got really into “Generation Kill,” which I highly recommend. I understand that some of the same people worked on both programs, so maybe when I next have free time, I’ll have to look up “The Wire.”

The first season of The Wire is now on HBO On Demand. I have started watching it again and it is interesting knowing what happens to everyone. That first scene about letting Snot Boogie into the game is a classic.

Love HBO on demand. I caught up on all the Big Love episodes before the new season started. It’s killing me that I now have to wait for a new episode. Something about BL just cracks me up.
I’m also a big Entourage fan so somebody at HBO has the same taste as mine.
I’ll have to start on The Wire now.

Big Love and Entourage are two of my favorites too. I also wish there were lots more of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I can watch those episode over and over again. I like Flight of the Conchords too.

I like Flight of the Conchords too.

they played a few gigs in the Seattle area last year-Murray is my favorite.
( and the recycling song- you know what I am talking about- business time  )
