harvard: YUCK. I expect SO much more from the richest school in the USA. The campus is all types of FAIL. why can’t they try emmanating Princeton for once???

UChicago: ugh. so dreary. so…depressing.

Brandeis: Bleh. No uniformity. Ugly modernism.

Northwestern: some parts were beautiful. But then I got to part of the Brutist-art library… -.-

most of the SUNYs
UIC
Yale was ok, but kinda weird in the organization of the spacing and it was right by a graveyard…so…

Brown. yuck. old, drab, and weird. and, on top of a hill. lol. not my thing

Carnegie Mellon, Vassar (went thinking I would love it and hated both it and the surrounding area)…Bates (city is a dump). Hampshire is gorgeous in the fall and spring. The buildings themselves are not so hot but the scenery is stunning. BU- if you like Kenmore Square you’ll like BU. That IS your campus. Too much sprawl and no real theme.

Emp, i LOVE the JHU campus. Out of ALLLLLL of the campuses I’ve visited and that people seem to enjoy so much, it is THE most organized, uniform, and well-kept campus. It is seriously like an oasis in Baltimore and should be considered a garden in its own right.

+, the fact that they are expanding it and building more every year makes me think it will be even greater with time.

I’ve seen Columbia mentioned many times… is it in Manhattan, or another borough?

But I agree with UCF… I’ve always heard how nice their campus is, but really? It’s just like the rest of Orlando. Suburban, concrete, boring, and lacking of any character other than a strip mall. UF’s campus isn’t all that great either, but at least it has history. I must say though, any college campus in New Orleans is probably going to be incredibly un-attractive. Either because of the campus itself, the surrounding area, or most likely, both.

i was considering NYU and i liked it mainly because it was in NYC, but if you don’t like the city then you prob wouldnt like the “campus” obviously because its just buildings in manhattan, and columbia is a very good school but not in a good area, its in harlem and its not a very nice area… but one school i didnt like was UGA, it wasnt necessarily ugly but i just thought it wasnt pretty and its so hard to get around campus you have to take a bus everywhere cuz its so big which really is unappealing to me, and the dorms are like prison cells, but i think it has a good rep for student life b/c its in athens and has a great nightlife scene but personally not my taste, but as people have said to each his own!

I disagree, Temple’s campus is really nice and they’re doing a really good job with renovating buildings and building new buildings…Plus the original rowhomes along Liacouras Walk are nice looking with stores inside and Conwell Hall, Carnell Hall, and the Temple are very nice, old buildings…

I didn’t like Penn’s campus, maybe it was too red, I don’t know, but I just thought it was ugly as well…

UNLV has a lot of nasty-looking buildings, such as Dungan Humanities Building and their residence halls are pretty ugly, also the round classroom complex is ugly too in my opinion, but their new Greenspun and Student Union are very nice looking, with the Greenspun building having a tall, flat tower with UNLV on the top to signify on Maryland Parkway that you are indeed at the campus…

Columbia isn’t in Harlem. It’s in Morningside Heights. Morningside Heights is a nice neighborhood and is reasonably safe.

Admittedly, Morningside Heights is adjacent to Harlem if one goes north or east. But even Harlem isn’t that bad nowadays if one uses common sense precautions. This is speaking from experience; I lived there (near Broadway in the 140’s) for a couple months while rebuilding my life.

Meh, UW Madison doesn’t have such a bad campus as to make this list. There are places that are very modern (biochemistry building and biomedical campus) but much of it is quite the opposite. I think Madison’s least appealing feature is the major streets intersecting the campus.

“Wow, I beg to differ. UIUC has the nicest campus i’ve ever been to. It looks like what a college is supposed to look like.”

I certainly beg to differ here…i thought UIUC had one of the ugliest campuses i’ve been too. It was dirty and grimy and in the middle of a city that wasnt even a city. The buildings were nice but old and run-down. From the outside they looked dirty and unkempt. The campus was all squished together and the surrounding “city” or “town” or whatever it was, was completly part of the campus and it was not a nice “city” “town”…and this is the stupidest thing becasue it has so much space as it is in the ABSOLUTE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE… my overall impression was that it was ugly and very unkempt… but i guess to each his own…
