Theater collage search

Hi! I’m a junior in high school and I am searching for a school with a good drama/theater program. I have been in drama club for 2 years, and i have taken Drama 1 and 2 classes and plan on taking advanced acting next year. I live in Rhode Island so i’m searching for a college in New England. Next summer i also plan on doing a sumer institute for actors at trinity rep (that is if i can somehow get the money to pay for it with my job). I’m not specifically looking for acting, but also stage help and tech. Right now i am stage manger for hamlet at my school. Also with my grades, i am in average classes and i am a good student. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks so much!

My daughter is in musical theater so I am not as familiar with schools for straight acting/ theater management. There are many, many choices in your area, however they can be very expensive and extemely competetive to get in. Many programs require an audition, but there are also no-audition programs. Your best bet is to start reading the posts under theater/drama majors. There is a ton of information here, along with audition information for this year’s auditions. You have time to start becoming familiar with different programs and their requirements. You might be able to narrow your choices a bit and then start asking more specific questions about particular schools. It is a daunting process, but you have time. Good luck!

Thanks so much! I will defiantly look into the posts.
