S24 OOS, Florida. CS/BS major; IB diploma candidate; UW GPA 3.833; W 4.5, SAT 1330 - we opted to submit. Ranked in top 3% of class in a countywide ranking of more than 5K students; Shodan rank (Black belt) in Shotokan karate, with classes taken K-12 and leadership responsibilities in dojo; Eagle Scout candidate and several leadership roles within the troop; NHS; Junior State of America debate group; SADD, Adventure Society travel club; approximately 180 hours of community service, serves weekly as helper in kids’ church. No mention of scholarships.
What may or may not have mattered: OOS but both parents from SC and graduated from SC colleges; uncle a Clemson grad, and great-great uncle was also grad who served on faculty and has an endowed scholarship in his memory.
We cranked up Tiger Rag on the Echo after getting the good news!
