<p>I was awarded the Regent’s Scholarship (UCB, c/o 2010)–which I am oober thankful for. So, everything is covered except for my yearly EFC ($1870).<br>
But, I just got emails from the UCB Alumni Scholarship and the UCB Leadership Scholarship telling me I made the semi-finals for both. I applied to both of them in January/February, before I knew I was even picked for a Regent’s Interview.</p>
<p>Am I still in the running for the Alumni/Leadership scholarships?
If I win them, will they just cover my EFC, or am I already disqualified?</p>

<p>That depends on whether Regents is <em>need-based</em> or <em>fix-valued scholarship</em>. If it’s need-based, that means you get $budgettype - ($EFC+$outside sources).</p>
<p>Of course, that outside sources include scholarships, your own jobs, etc.</p>

Academic: 4.2w, 4.0 uw, 2000 SAT
Extra: -Varsity vball since frosh year, 2x captain, league honors
-Two professional theatre plays (20 hrs/week)
-Many school plays with major roles
-NHS Member since Frosh year, officer senior year
-Junior Class Senator and Student Body Secretary in 12th
-Published two poems in national journals
-Volunteered a couple of hours/week at professional theatre</p>

<p>The Regents is need-based. It’s literally “Year Budget - EFC”, so if I receive the Leadership or Alumni Scholarship, my Regents grant will simply decrease? Hm, are there other perks to those 2 scholarships, besides money?</p>
<p>Ah! I just got a phone call from the Leadership Scholarship people. I have an interview tomorrow at 8:30. I asked the lady if me having a Regent’s Scholarship mattered, and she said no. </p>

Isn’t the Leadership Award just a monetary award?</p>
<p>It’s a monetary award, along with some perks like sessions with professors, etc. and a 20% discount at the student store. It’s also a helpful recognition thing.</p>
<p>Regents and Chancellor’s is $1000 even if you don’t have financial need.</p>
<p>Congratulations! I’m in the same boat as you, with Regents along with Leadership Award finalist.</p>
<p>It certainly makes you consider Berkeley even more strongly as a choice.</p>
