They won't let me take AP test - HELP!!!

I was self studying this year for the AP English test along with the English 3 honor kids. When I registered for the test, everything seemed fine. Yesterday, my entire world was rocked when the administration sent me a notification that says i cannot take an AP test that I don’t have a class for. Is there anything I can do about this? Appeal? Go to another school to take the test? I want to consult the pros here before I storm into the office hahaha. Thanks guys!

Try going to a nearby school. Appealing usually won’t do anything because school administrators are the most stubborn people in the world.

Don’t “storm in” but definitely ask your counselor why they have this policy. Maybe no one else has ever done this, so they don’t know it’s quite common.
See if you can be “an exception.” Can you get your English teacher to vouch for you?

If not, look for a local public school to take you exam. I don’t know what the deadlines for registration are, however, so you need to look into this quickly and not waste any time. Good luck.

At the public high school I’m going to, I am going to be 2 years ahead in French than any other kid at the school. They don’t offer AP French there, but said I would certainly be ready for it during H.S. and said I can take it separately on my own time at another school. It’s not a big deal. Sign up at a local school…

What you might do is going to the teacher that offers AP English, and show her/him your skills and desires to take the test. He/she may help you convince the administration.
