Things That Really Annoy You

Annoying (sometimes this goes all the way up the scale to infuriating): Trying to deal with the doctor’s office over the phone. You call and get a receptionist who takes a detailed message. Two hours later, the nurse calls and you have to go over the same information. Two hours after that, she calls back with the doctor’s response. If you have a follow-up question or need a clarification, there’s another two-hour wait till she calls you back again. It takes them another two hours to fax the order to the pharmacy. It took me all day long to get a prescription problem straightened out.

50 year olds who can’t look up from their smartphones

loud gum chewers

a radio commercial with the sound of ice cubes rattling and liquid being poured

people that are always pretty sure that they’re right about everything they think

petty people who dump on minimum wage retailers for doing what they are required to do

Lately,my ultra conservative, FOX News watching, bible quoting, gun toting in laws.

Stinky, smelly, obnoxious, spitting, sidewalk space taking up, ignorant, foolish, selfish, unproductive Occupy Wall Street protestors who play their little games outside of Bank of America buildings.

People who repeat their same point of view louder and louder until the discussion stops. Somehow they see this stop in conversation as proof that they are right rather than that the other people around them understand that it is futile to continue the discussion.

I think the biggest failing of the Occupy Wall Streeters is that they have no music. Having been born in the 1950s, I grew up with the anti establishment movement, Vietnam war protestors and the civil rights movement. They all had troubadours and catchy tunes, this time not so much.

The biggest failing of Occupy Wall Street is that I work right where they are and they get in my way! It’s all about me, you know?

I’m too young to remember Vietnam War protestors, so I can’t speak to that, but the OWS folks in Manhattan are pretty violent.

Big annoyance:
Waiting in line to get out of a store. Why do they have some person standing there making a very cursory look at whats in your cart and then drawing a line through the receipt. Probably cost more to pay the person to stand there and draw a line on receipts than they save in deterring shoplifting. I want to LEAVE when I pay, not stand in a long line waiting for some guy moving at a snail’s pace to leave their sharpie mark on my receipt. I only had 3 itemsfor pete’s sake.

How about those bankers who have once again done stupid stuff we will all have to pay for? Aren’t they a ton of fun?

And, you know what; if Jesus was alive and living in Manhattan, do you think he’d be an investment banker or occupying Wall St? Remember the money changers in the temple?

People that don’t say thank you.

So true, bethievt.

jym626, I don’t have a problem with those people checking my receipt and comparing it to my basket of goods. They do this at my local BJs (like a Costco but unique to the northeast). I figure it keeps the costs low, so I’m all in favor.

I’m also aware of how easy it would be to shoplift in one of those stores. At least this action is a deterrent.

Edited to add: I just glanced at the list of threads and my eyes combined two titles so I came up with “How Much Do Your Adult Children Annoy You?”

and my cat at 4:47 this morning…grrr

It is no easier to shoplift at a warehouse store than any other store that keeps its stock on the shelves. There is nothing to take after paying at the register and walking to the door. They could put tags on the items that, if not deactivated, can set an alarm off at the exit just like any other store. Then they can check THOSE carts/customers that set off the alarm. Yesterday I stood there for like 5 minutes because the people checking our carts were REALLY SLOW and they really dont seem to do much “checking”. They just glance and draw a line on the paper. I was almost late for my hairdresser appointment. This system is stupid and inefficient. Waste of my time. It annoys me.

Coffee shops where it is impossible to get a good, strong cup of coffee. Even worse if the coffee shop has a fancy French name.

As an aside, we have BJ’s here too. But its a bit of a drive and I have never set foot in it. I have been to Costco in NY as well as where I live. They were much more wary about theft and such in NY. For eg- when I bought a new phone system for my dad there was nothing in the box. They had to go get the contents, open the box and be sure there was nothing besides the phone parts in the box. Sad that they have to be this worried about theft. But regardless, if they need to do that for high ticket items, ok. But do it at the register and let me out the )%+$(_)(&# door without having to que up again. Feels insulting. Its inefficient and annoying, especially when some of us have only an item or two and are in a bit of a hurry. OF course, its not all that common that I can get out of Costco with only a few items!!

My pet peeve about Costco is the people who stop to look at something and park their cart on the other side of the aisle so there is no way for anyone to pass!

But I love the pneumatic tubes.

I really don’t think Jesus was into sexual assault, theft, violence or vandalism. If you don’t deal with the OWS people on a daily basis, it is easy to romanticize them. The actuality isn’t pretty and has nothing to do with fairness or human dignity.

One thing that really annoys me is when people empty the dishwasher and leave the silverware in there over and over. What is that about?

House guests who walk around taking stock of and pointing out all the things that are falling apart in your home and yard.
