Things You Are Grateful For

The first thing that comes into your head, right now, at this moment in time

I am soooooo grateful I do not have to worry anymore about my kids’ GPA, about test prep about college apps.

That is what flashed though my head as an ad. pop-up for ACT prep came on my computer.

Silly Sunday Musings!

My health

I’m grateful that I have finally come to terms with this virus. It was so unsettling at first, but now I’m getting used to a new normal.

I’m grateful my daughter’s wedding was a year ago.

I am grateful for my health and that of my loved ones. I am grateful my kids, H, and I are together on same island with pretty mask-wearing and distanced folks and good medical facilities that aren’t overwhelmed. I’m grateful we are able to take turns caring for my mom so she is with family during this Covid time instead of isolated in her CCRC where she’d feel abandoned. I’m grateful we have enough to eat and stores and money to purchase what we need and want.

Tech that allows so easily to communicate with my kids often.

FB groups for supportive friends.

My house and yard that gives me a safe place to be with space to breathe and move.

Health, family and good friends!

Good health, a loving family, and dear friends.
Grandchildren!

I am grateful to be in a season of life where the challenges of Covid are minimal for me personally. My ds is launched and off our payroll with a great job. My 81-year-old mother-in-law is healthy and lives independently in her own home. My dh and I love (and like) each other a lot. I am happy to be hunkered down with him. He even got a job during this crazy time and wasn’t even looking for one!

But so many are not in the same season. I have friends with high school kids and college kids who are being robbed of much of the joy typical of those stages of life. I have friends with parents in facilities who are suffering mightily because they can have no visitors. I have friends whose small businesses are struggling to stay afloat financially. I have friends who have lost their jobs. I have friends who have gone through divorces because of issues revealed in their marriages during this crisis.

I try to remember these comparisons when I am tempted to complain or whine about boredom or being stuck at home. My situation is NOTHING compared to so many who have suffered so much.

I am grateful for so many things:

good health
My husband, kids, sister, husbands family, and my cousins
financial security and a nice place to live
my friends including those I have met online

I’m grateful that my kids are happy with their current lives. It’s the only thing that has kept me sane at times through this mess.

I’m grateful that our new kitty seems to be quite at home in our huge house with 3 other adult cats. She seems to know she’s hit the jackpot as far as comfort/cozy. The cats have been wary and standoffish, but no aggression thus far.

I’m grateful that summer seems to be finally over!

I love fall, so beautiful weather here and the knowledge that both kids are well launched and their families healthy. Eager for arrival of third granddaughter in the next 2 weeks - it will mean I have a trifecta of granddaughters! I never thought I was an optimist, but circumstances the last few years have led me to realize that I am hopeful that things will be better because I don’t want to imagine them worse than they already are for our country given the challenges caused by COVID, etc. right now.

Health, Wife, kids, job, dog

Playing piano again!

I need to find the motivation to do that! Since my S left, the piano is gathering dust…

Having a job, staying healthy, electricity.

Health, love, family, security.

Gin

I’m grateful for the perspective of a certain age, knowing that out of tribulation comes patience, experience, and ultimately, hope.

Lots of big stuff already mentioned…

And for now a DVR that lets me tape, pause, fast forward, and delete/watch what I choose when I choose freeing up my time considerably.

When my grandmother was asked this question her answer was always, “indoor plumbing.” Remembering that always puts a lot in perspective for me.

Health
That my husband, my daughter and I all still have jobs and don’t have to worry about money.
