THINK Global School

Hi guys! Heard about this great school, THINK global school and it sounds great! Do you guys think it is too late to apply now?

apply for 2011 fall?, I think
fall 2012, of course!

Their tuition (125.000$) and number of students (15) are great as well:-)
A little bit strange school, isn’t it?

It is. But traveling seems really cool. The school says they have rolling admissions. But do you think the school is too full?

To apply for admission to TGS, please register and create an account to start the application process. Applications must be completed online and can be saved and continued at a later time.

Currently, we are accepting only 9th grade applications for the 2011-2012 academic year. Our Rolling Admissions Policy is in effect, and applications for September admittance should be received by June 30, 2011.

Oopsies about that. Sorry. But can anyone tell me more about it?

BUMP…Now wait a minute, something fishy is going on. I look into the school, and they say apps due by June. I look at the application for scholarships, and they say its due in February!

I think you’re the first CCer to hear about TGS… at least the first time I heard bout it. I think it’s pretty cool… getting to travel the world and whatnot.

Yeah, me too, BronxKid. Well, there isn’t anything to lose, so I sent an email to the school. Hope they reply back soon!

Someone else talked about Think Global last year too. I can’t remember the name of the person. But I’m sure if you search it, you will find something.

Is there a person in this world whose parents would pay 125k a year for school?

I believe they provide lots of scholarships. But yes 45k is already a lot! 125k seems like too much. That’s half a million before college.

listen to me ladies and gentlemen

this school is the very definition of overrated
they are just unnecessarily hyped
they even have a video channel on youtube
its just all-show
and they even have the nerve to call themselves non-profit, yet charge students 500,000 dollars for four years
they should be ashamed of themselves

I’m also worried that the school is untested and unproven. It seems unusual that they would have that much funding in place and so fast to provide that much financial aid. And having seen people be “burnt” by other start-up business ventures, the question I had (as intriguing as it looked) … was would I send my child on an educational whirlwind around the world with no quantitative data? The answer came back “no.” Don’t know the strength or credentials of the teachers, the living environment, the accreditation issues.

I did try to do some research last year and every link was one they’d set up.

Do be careful. A better option is to go the traditional BS route and then spend your dollars on sponsored experiences such as School Year Abroad, spring and summer school sponsored trips, volunteer opportunities.

If Think Global were to run out of money, the students would be stranded. It may be a perfectly wonderful program - or it may be one that doesn’t have the kinks worked out yet. It’s hard enough to go to BS and live with strangers. But to go to a school where you can’t verify many of the details - well …that’s another thing entirely.

Hmmm- looks like they’re not quite achieved accreditation. They could be a great opportunity, or one that is not quite “there” yet. Buyer beware and ask a lot of questions before signing on the dotted line. These things should have been worked out before they took in students.

A thread from last year.

Thanks guys! I think I’ll try it out. There is nothing to lose!

I checked it out. It’s interesting to say the least.

there is something to lose ---- your sanity

do you honestly think this people are learning anything significant
sure they get to fly first class to tokyo and misrata but really for half-a-million

give me that and i’m off to wallstreet

so rather than be infatuated with this kind of country club-type school, you should be quite sceptical

You also have to pay for your own transportation costs. This is just ridiculous.

Yeah, so I doubt you will be flying first class if the price tag is on you.
