If it wasn’t such a serious issue, I’d be laughing right now. Call me naive, but when was the last time you stepped into your local HOme Depot or Lowes bathroom and caught two guys in flagrante delicto?

"“There is a lot of public sex in public restrooms that takes place under peoples’ noses – at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s on Saturday afternoon, for example, or in the showers or steam room at your local health club,” Leap said. “Gay men and men who like having sex with men but call themselves heterosexual know about these locations. The rest of the world may not.”

I’d say this doesn’t reflect positively on the male gender as a whole.

Actually, though, I’ve always heard that a large portion of the men who make use of such, erm, arrangements are “straight” married men who see this as an easy and supposed low-risk (in terms of potential of discovery) way of meeting their need.

I would bet many are the “straight” gay men who as corranged said, have a “need” but can’t or won’t acknowledge in their real lives and this way they aren’t “gay” but just on the “low down”…

I know it’s not funny, but all I can think of is these men telling their wives that they are going out to Home Depot or Lowes for home repair stuff. It’s the perfect excuse! My husband is always gone for hours when he goes out to Home Depot or Lowes to buy some little thing, because he loves to browse through all the tools and things they have there!

Thats what I ve heard too, men that are “out” don’t have to sneak around and find such impersonal crude encounters-

I never dreamed Home Depot and Lowes were such sexually charged atmospheres. Guess people can’t handle themselves after looking at all those nuts and bolts.

Those interstate rest areas areas aka pickle parks are also notorious. Careful wlking the dog, you don’t know what you will scare up in the bushes. Thr Virginia State police were cracking down for a while but got in trouble for it. Seems its a violation of privacy to be rooting around is the shrubs and woods for the love that dare not speak its name.

Anyway I don’t care if they are on the down low or the Queen of the Gay parade. Just wish they would get a room somewhere.

I’m always gone for hours when I go to Home Depot, too, but that’s because it always takes me hours to find anything specific there. No down-low sexual encounters, however. Yet.

My (gay, female) dog-walking buddy’s girlfriend practically lives at Loewe’s when she’s off work. So it’s not only a Man Mall.

What gay community are you talking about, doubleplay? I hate how certain gay people’s actions are supposed to reflect on other gay people, as though we’re liable for maintaining a certain image of this “community” that you speak of.

I second that. I bet only small number of gay men like looking for sex in public restroom. By the way, if we live in a world where straight men and women can go to the same rest room, I bet small number of straight men would be “looking for something” too. I work in the field a lot and my straight coworkers would frequently make comments on “hot chicks” on the streets while we are driving, just like the gay friends commenting on hot dudes. There’s no difference. This is about men, being gay or straight have little to do with it except that gay men have the outlet (albeit illegal) provided. By the way, doubleplay, gay community includes lesbians too!
