This is how harvard selects candidates for its med school

So a friend of mine went to an interview at a med school (not harvard) and the guy conducting the interview told him this is how harvard selects its med school class:

They pick their 2 favorite candidates from each state, then they pick 50 candidates who are famous/well connected/in families who donate a lot (assuming the stats are decent enough for any med school) for a total class of 150. most accept and they can get someone off a waitlist if needed.

to be fair, my friend said he couldn’t tell if the interviewer was being cynical or not, but it seems like just the kind of thing harvard would do.

Pretty sure that’s ********.

so NY or CA sends as many as montana or south dakota ??? don’t think so

pretty sure thats confusing national merit scholars with Harvard matriculants…

Quoted for truth.

He’s right! That’s exactly what we do! How did he know?

lol, drb. I KNEW the OP was onto something.

For a small consideration I can reserve one of the Texas slots…

I actually called admissions at Harvard, and they confirmed this. However, Alaskans are only offered a slot if they fall under the ‘well-connected’ category as well.

LOL at transferkid21.

And we only take short people from Rhode Island.

Haha, let’s not poke fun at the OP. He/She obviously got played by his/her interviewer.

mind blasting!

what! No spots for Canadians? Man, I’m gonna need to famous pretty soon…

lol .
