You can always withdraw if something better comes along.
Yep , FAU with Honors and out of state, is the only BS MD we got in. We have very good instate and one other out state option for regular 4 year degree and go through the normal process.
FAU not sure how much merit they offer, but we get free rides including housing and boarding and the difference is good amount but manageable
Very confusing and wondering if we can get any help on choosing the right options as this is much bigger decision for the student as they move far from the house and also decide the path they take
I have a feeling we are in same state, a full-ride at the flagship is very attractive for an aspiring pre-med.
Feel free to PM and I can give my 2 cents. For reference, my DS rejected 2 BSMDs acceptances in 2017 and did very well with traditional path. However I also advised couple of kids to go for BSMD based on their strengths and weaknesses.
Never have distance as a major factor unless kid has health or anxiety issues. Let them explore!
Flagships in big states are notorious for GPA. kids who have attended very rigorous HS will do well in those schools otherwise most take GPA hit and that leads to even less time for ECs in subsequent semesters.
Hi,my daughter did her sienna/AMC interview mid February, havenât heard anything yet, but what is AMC info session??she hasnât attended any,is it mandatory to attend the session??
REMS is out
VCU results are out.
Any SLU Acceptances here? Any suggestions about it for someone who got into only that medical scholars program as OOS, besides a few undergrads?
What other options do you have?
What according to you are the pros and cons of each?
My son got SLU too. We are waiting on a few other decisions we will only know towards the end of March, but between SLU and FAU, is FAU the better option?
My child is in state and also applied to SLU med scholars. 31 ACT and 3.8 unweighted gpa strong community service and leadership experiences and some health experiences. Almost all honors and accelerated high school classes. Received nearly full SLU tuition scholarship but not presidential. Was rejected for med scholars and I was really surprisedâŠ. Thought this was an easy reach.
Interviewed for a different bs Md no MCAT program and waiting to hear. Received acceptance for LECOM EAP.
Would you mind sharing your childâs stats? Just trying to determine why my child wasnât more competitive at SLU.
Feeling discouragedâŠ. This Bsmd process is brutal.
Actually donât know if presidential will come through or not. Interviewed but didnât hear back yet.
Everyone who got acceptances - if you know you would not attend a program and interviewed for it or waiting on an interview, please withdraw so others have a chance. Thank you
When do Oklahoma interviews come out?
We have FAU confirmed, and we have NOVA interview this weekend , wondering if you will suggest attending NOVA interview as both look similar?
NOVA MD medical school is a new school - they received accreditation last year in Feb.
FAU is relatively more established school ~10 years old. We have a history of match results to observe.
NOVA medical school will have about 50 students per batch, while FAU has a batch of about 80 students.
FAU has 2 campuses offering different environments for students, while NOVA has one campus.
NOVA has among the best dorms for undergrad students.
NOVA offers scholarships including up to full tuition waiver.
FAU may not offer similar scholarships.
I hope this helps you in deciding whether to go for an interview or not.
Do you know whatâs happening with NJMS? Supplemental submitted just over 4 weeks ago. Silence so far. Are we done or there is still hope?
NSU MD Celebrates First-Ever Graduating Class â Newsroom.
Nova MD has been around at least 6 years and they will graduate their 3rd batch this year. Usually full accreditation is given to new MD schools only after they graduate at least one batch based on what I have read which is what they got last year.
Any student entering BS/MD program this year will be starting in their 11th MD batch.
I have been talking to a Nova DO student applying for residency next year. They told me it has not been that great competing with their own MD students for competitive residencies for internal positions.
