Tickets to Hamilton on Broadway

My D has a good friend (they went to a theater program in Moscow together) who is an understudy in Hamilton right now. He’s trying to help us get tickets, but it isn’t looking good. I think I might bite the bullet and buy them as a holiday present for D (and me). I saw Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the revival of Death of a Salesman and paid a small fortune. It was a great show and each time I think back on it I’m happy I did it, especially because it was his last Broadway performance.

@runnersmom, I bet you are right. We saw In the Heights after Lin-Manuel had moved on and it was still fantastic. Truthfully, I also saw a high school production and loved it! It is just a fantastic show. And I hope to see at least one incarnation of Hamilton.

I read yesterday that the guy who was the 2nd Usnavi is now Lin’s understudy in Hamilton. He does the 2 Sunday performances.

^^D’s friend is the understudy for Burr and Geo. Washington. I’ll have to ask her if he’s had a chance to get on stage. This kid has an amazing voice.

I bet that with 8 shows a week, the understudies get a decent amount of stage time…life happens, and sometimes you can’t be there. It’s hard to organize your life so that you can get everything done on Mondays.

I have tickets for July! Very excited.

Alwaysamom # 16–I guess. I have not seen the play. I know she is not a lead and she is a great dancer.

Should be an emotional performance tonight, Lafayette helping win the war and all.

D scored 2 tickets (Row B in the mezz) for a performance in Sept. She got a decent price.

Bad news is the second seat is for her new H, not me

Oh, those new husbands  @FallGirl

I have actually had second thoughts to giving my ticket to D2, who lives in LA - it could be a weekend getaway for the two sisters, who normally don’t have a lot in common, and I’d be willing to pay for D2’s flight out to NYC. D2 went to school out east and has not been back since graduation in 2011 - one of her best friends lives in NYC and they only see each other when best friend goes to visit D2 (smartly) every January. Then either H and I can go see it together at some point, which is odd because he’s never really the one to initiate a trip to a musical, but did express interest in seeing this one after seeing the 60 Minutes piece, or we can wait for it to come to Chicago in a couple to three years. I’m OK with those possibilities.

For those of you closer to Chicago than NYC:

Excited!

I’m going for my birthday in May! H bought tickets today - D will be going with me (it’s also her gift - though her birthday is in April).

So excited!

S and I are going in March. It’s his spring break, and it coincides with an Admitted Students’ day at a school that’s in his top cloud of possibilities. (3 accepts so far, waiting on 3 RD notification, and this school is the top of the Accept pile so far.) I did buy tickets through Ticketmaster, and yeah - paid more. But I’m pretty sure Ticketmaster (and maybe StubHub) is the only legit reseller. Hamilton has had a lot of issues with people showing up who bought fake tickets. I also travel a ton for work, so have a healthy pile of frequent flier miles, and that’s how we’re getting to NYC.

VERY excited, but I won’t trust the tickets 100% until we’re sitting in the seats. Ticketmaster is legit. I keep reminding myself of that…

A lot of very disappointed people today as all Broadway shows have been cancelled due to the storm.

I saw Hamilton last month. My D’s BFF managed to snare 7 tickets seated altogether. She used connections to get them as the tickets were confirmed that same week.
The show is awesome, better than I expected. But it is long, covers a lot of events and I managed to follow the story by reading the wiki on the show beforehand.

I have tickets to see it in July. Very excited. Everyone I know who saw the show loved it.

Just saw people being interviewed on local NBC News who came to NYC this weekend with tickets… they will get refunded for future performance. At least they have a cozy hotel room to stay in and don’t have to try to travel anywhere to get home. Same with the gentleman being interviewed from CA who came for his annual see 4 operas at the Met

S1 talked a couple of friends from work to see Hamilton with him in early March. They will all be in NYC that week for a business meeting already, which made the high ticket price a bit easier to bear since hotel, plane and food allowance are covered. Color me envious!
