Tiger Woods

$161 fine isn’t bad, but Tiger will get points on his driving record that will drive up his insurance. :)

toblin’s link: FUNNY STUFF!

Bluebayou has a really good point. Through the Learning Center and his work with and for kids, he has established himself as someone who (supposedly) stands for something. If the allegations are true, what a lie he’s been living.

I’m in no way defending his wife if she did actually strike him, but I can only imagine how she felt to hear these rumors. I’ve read the posts from those who say that each marriage has it’s own “rules” and some people have “open” marriages. I don’t buy that. Marriage means something to me. Sure, women are going to throw themselves at him and I’m sure all the attention is flattering and ego inflating but if he wanted to be a playboy, he should have split from his wife and done his playboy thing.

As soon as they read Tiger’s statement on the news and it talked about “not being perfect” and “making mistakes”, it sounded to me like an admission of guilt over affairs. I really didn’t understand why Tiger felt the need to issue a statement at all if he didn’t want to talk about it because all it did was raise more questions.

Given the reported evidence of 300 text messages from Tiger to one of the women, it would seem to me that at least that woman wasn’t doing the throwing.

CNN reporting that Tiger admits to “transgressions” and is apologizing to his family.
I’m so sick of this…why do these guys think they can get away with this?
TWO ladies, both gorgeous, although a bit trashy looking …I guess the wife at home with kids thing was getting boring for old Tiger.
US has a voicemail that they say is from Tiger…telling his flame to stop using her name on her voicemail since “the wife” got a hold of his phone.
Poor kids…I’m glad they’re too young to understand what’s going on here…for now at least.

He has just issued a statement on his website apologizing to his family, etc. for his “transgressions.” Asking for privacy to deal with the issues.

What’s half of a $Billion?? See you later Tiger. I’m a rich woman.

Here is the direct quote from his statement today:

I hope NIKE drops him and I hope his wife takes him to the cleaners. Sorry, but no second chances coming from me.

Vegas should start taking bets on male celebrities/politicians and who will get caught in this type of scandal. I am very disappointed in this story… if Tiger isn’t clean, what rich/famous man is? Here is who I would put money on as non-cheaters, but I just got a lot more cynical about it:

Bill Gates
Tom Hanks
Barack Obama

Anyone disagree? Who would you add?

I don’t think that you can say and I’d take at least one off your list.

Warren Buffett has a squeaky clean reputation among most but he had a mistress for quite some time.

Not a George W Bush fan, but I’ll add him (and his daddy).
Roger Federer (buddies with Tiger… hope he doesn’t prove me wrong)
Pope Benedict (lol)
This is hard…

Jay Leno
Will Smith
Dr. Phil (ok, I’m stretching . . .)

Never heard of Paul Newman having affairs on his second wife, Joanne Woodward. He was married to another woman when he started seeing her, but never heard of unfaithfulness during his decades of being married to her.

Jimmy Carter
Cal Ripken

uh…

I wouldn’t bet my own money on anybody, though.

I remember reading about a NBA player (his name escapes me) whose wife followed him around to ALL of his basketball games. And they had kids too. LOL. Not much opportunity there…
They say cheating is opportunity plus motivation…remove one and the game gets MUCH harder.

my bets
Dan Wilson( retired MLB catcher)
Jamie Moyer ( MLB pitcher)
but it isn’t really anything I would bet real money on.

There are a lot of things I don’t like about Bill Gates, but I have a deep admiration that he didn’t have his wife sign a pre-nup. (That’ll keep you on the straight and narrow!).

Presidentially, I agree on Obama, Bush 2 and Carter. I’d also throw in Reagan (second marriage, not first). For some reason, I don’t feel so sure about Bush 1.

As far as Tiger, I think the only second chance that matters is the one between him and his wife. And that’s their business. I don’t think he really cares what we think (and is rich enough he sure doesn’t have to.)

Those who say “no second chances” apparently are ignorant of what it means to be married. If you aren’t capable of at least attempting to forgive, then you aren’t marriage material.

I know what some people will say. "I am forgiving, but not about that." To which I say, whatever. If there is one thing about which you feel obliged to exclaim, “I could never forgive that,” then you aren’t a forgiving person.

"Could Tiger Woods be looking at a $100 million fender-bender

The squeaky clean image of golf’s greatest player and the sports world’s most lucrative endorser took a hit over Thanksgiving weekend — no pun intended. Mr. Woods was involved in a single-car accident, but the timing, the circumstances, the aftermath and the ever-churning rumor mill quite possibly have endangered his own brand and his estimated nine-figure annual endorsement deals with several blue-chip companies.

“I think this incident ultimately will have a negative effect on the Tiger Woods brand,” said sports marketing expert Robert Tuchman, exec VP of New York-based sports and entertainment marketing company Premiere Global Sports. “Regardless of the facts, there are brand marketers who might pass at looking at him now. I think as this situation unfolds and how he handles himself will determine the long-term effects to his image. The best thing he can do is be completely honest and open about the situation and what took place.”

Mr. Woods’ desire for privacy will likely fall on deaf ears. (He has yet to speak publicly about the incident.) As of Sunday evening, there were 7,492 articles on Google News regarding the accident, not to mention numerous blog posts and rumor-mongering…"

I think some folks might have a tad more sympathy for Tiger if he had only slipped once… but clearly that is not the case.
