At a certain income/fame level men (and yes, some women) feel that they are above social conventions and morality. My son and husband were invited to a sporting event which featured a private (and very posh) dinner at a private club prior to the event. (Husband told me this): This was a men only event. There were “hostesses” all around catering to the “needs” of the clients. (There was the hope that attendees would buy season tickets/suites). My husband told the women who approached that he was able to get his own drinks/dinner thank you. My son burst out laughing. He gave my husband the 411 on what these women’s jobs were
no they weren’t hookers
they were hostesses hoping to meet someone.

I once knew a women who’s husband was exceeding wealthy. At the height of his power he had an extra family
thought he wouldn’t get caught. He did.

Fifteen years ago when I used to work on the trading floor where many men (not as many women) were making millions in their early 30s. For one reason or another many of them felt comfortable in discussing their private matters with me. I became friends with a guy I was indirectly working for. I found him to be someone with a lot of integrity and not superficial. I knew he had a smart and pretty wife at home. She was also in the business. Over time I noticed he started to change as he started to rise up in the ranks (as he started to make more money). During one of our talks, I asked him if he was having an affair. He was so shocked I knew (but I was only guessing). I told him that I thought he was the last person I would have expected to have an affair. He gave me the usual song and dance about how and why it happen. I told him that he has become a cliche, what about the oath he took when he married his wife - for bettor or for worse. I told him the environment and money have corrupted him. I think in his own mind he was thinking of the same thing, but it stun more when someone else said it. In a few months, he decided to quite his job, moved to another state with is wife, and started his own business. Last time I heard they had a son and are still married.

I think there is a “Master of Universe” symdrom when there is too much power and money. It’s very hard to not be tempted when people think you could do no wrong and with so many available women throwing themselves at you.

Sounds like frat parties 3 decades later (frat parties on steroids, with $$$$$$$$)

It’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to the kingdom of heaven.

But
what about Warren Buffett and Bill Gates? I think both of them will go to heaven.

Trust the gossip these days. Usually have it right.

Yes, and Buffet and Gates are extraordinary. I’m not as familiar with what Buffet does, but I’ve been very impressed by how Gates was raised to care about other people. No indication that he’s seeing wealth a his ticket to womanizing, and impressing others by decking himself out in luxury. He seems to have picked a smart woman who shares his values. I appreciate how he’s using part of his enormous wealth to make a difference in the world.

I read that Tiger’s affair has lasted 31 months–a lot of privacy indeed. That would pi$$ me off big time! A long term affair is much harder to forgive than a brief encounter. Don’t you agree? The previous post about Bill Gates makes me wonder if Tiger and Elin signed a prenup. Anybody know?
Inquiring minds want to know! ;-)

*A long term affair is much harder to forgive than a brief encounter. Don’t you agree? *

Totally

Particulary since it meant that it was happening before they decided to have another child.
Talk about morning sickness.

Warren Buffett, the world’s second-richest man with a fortune of $US44 billion ($A57billion), married his long-term mistress this week in a quiet ceremony at his white stucco house in the prairie city of Omaha, putting an end to an unorthodox relationship that has intrigued American society.

The Enquirer broke the Edwards story and now this. Their credibility has to be rising these days.

I hope Elin throws him out. Maybe if woman started publicily throwing these cheaters out they would think twice.

I read the other day that Tom Brady “needs to be left alone” during the football season and not have any demands placed on him because “all I think about” is football and the plays. Everything and everyone else does not matter during the season. Made me feel sorry for his wife and future children. What a selfish self absorbed man.

I don’t know why you say that. He is being honest. This is what he has to do to perform his job, which is to be a top QB. DURING THE SEASON this is all he can handle and he gets paid big bucks to do so. Look at all the criticism of Tony Romo for being “distracted” by Jessica Simpson. If Brady wasn’t selfish and self-absorbed during the season, his stock would fall rapidly.

Momofwild child, Wow. Many athletes, top performers in other professions do not need to be left alone to do their jobs! What an egotistical postion. Didn’t Brady just lose? So, better for a top athlete like Woods to be distracted by a mistress than his own wife and children? So sad.
