I was wondering what kind of golf club might really be the best for beating somebody down. I was thinking maybe an older club with a more rigid shaft would be better, because you could do plenty of damage connecting with the shaft, and not just the head.

And we’re interested in Tiger’s doings because he’s a celebrity.

The courts may not allow her to leave, but I doubt he could argue that during the golf season when he is gone 5 days a week that it is fair to keep her in the states.

Additionally, she has enough money that she could fly back to Sweden every other week for the rest of her life.

What is really going to be worse for her is if they get passed this, the next time she shows up for a major event and has to face the other wives. I think the difference is in the baseball/basketball world, it is not a rarity that the hubby strays. In the golf world it is a rarity. Look at Michelson, this is a guy who was playing the Masters or Open (can’t remember) and his wife was due to give birth. He was in the lead and said if the beeper goes off I am out of here. He also made news this past summer because his wife was battling cancer. Michelson is not the rarity. Nicklaus, Palmer, Payne, all have/had the same image. The last one that I remember having the “marital hoopla” was decades ago, I can’t remember his name, but he was the leader and a Brit. His game went to crap and he basically disappeared, now he is a golf analyst.

Tiger for yrs had an image problem of a spoil brat on the course, and it hurt him, now the image has been taken from on the course to off the course.

I think it’s “helpful” to be reminded that things are not always as they seem. Tiger has gone to great lengths (IMO) to cultivate a squeaky clean image over the years. He makes BIG money as a celebrity golfer and hawker. Yes, that’s his job but it’s one that comes with a set of baggage…like it or not. Kids see him as a role model. like it or not. Acting like a piggy puts a blot on his name…at least in my book. If you want privacy as a CELEBRITY, you should go to great lengths to avoid doing things that would attract attention. Playing around with trashy cocktail waitresses doesn’t fit the bill.

All that said, I do feel sorry for the wife. This is not your average couple though…let’s be real here. He’s a public figure. Rules are different…yeah. Do I have sympathy for the wife and kids? Yeah, big time. For him? No way.

I wonder if he truly has had these 3 affairs while being married, and all of them seem to be by news accounts long term, how the heck did he do it while still playing golf and hawking stuff. I guess he really is “super” because as a normal person, that would just be too hard for me to juggle.

If Bullet was on he would tell you, 1 woman in his life is enough with a job and kids, 4 is insane!

"how the heck did he do it while still playing golf and hawking stuff. "

He travels a lot on the job with endorsements, playing golf, etc., and I’m guessing he has women scattered all over the world.

He probably wasn’t doing much with those women except bedding them, sending them occasional texts letting them know when they can see him, and sending them gifts. Lots of trashy women would be delighted to be booty call for a billionaire athlete.

I don’t think those women were having what most of us would consider a relationship with him. It doesn’t take that long to have drinks and a quickie. Seems I remember that some politician (JFK? Mussolini?) didn’t even bother to take his close off while enjoying his mistress.

You got a million of 'em, B&P! This is what I like about these threads-- clever wit and banter. And the distraction from more mundane things like work and and the stresses of everyday life. Hey, compared to what Tiger is facing right now, some of our day-to-day challenges seem trivial. Thanks for putting it into perspective, Eldrick Tont… I mean Tiger (two points for living with the name Eldrick Tont…)

And LOL Hunt- the word “prurient” popping in here caused a flashback to the Palin threads. AAgghhh…

As for the wife’s taking the kids out of the country, her attys can argue that she can provide a stable environment for them away fromthe negative influences of livign int he limelight, proximity to her extended family and Tiger has the resources to travel to see them, and travels around the world with his work anyway. I think she has a shot at it.

… one more thought-- try setting cc to get 40 posts per pg. I am only on pg 10 of this thread, having mine set that way. Less overwhelming and easier to read without having to change pages

busy parent–the 1 in 10 babies born during the marriage not being that of the husband is from England. The US stats indicate that “mom” is getting pregnant by someone other than her husband much more frequently in the US.

In the trenches of domestic relations law, the usual case is that when the wife or the husband strays it is not due to some exotic kinky-sex “come on” from someone decades younger nor is it always “terminal” to the relationship. Over and over again, you hear that the non-cheating spouse (although often times both are cheating) when made known of the cheating was dealing with it until some “good intentioned friend” tells him or her “kick the bt c h or b st* rd out, that’s what I’d do.”

Also, the “other person” many times is a married mutual aquaintance of the husband and wife through work, school or religious affiliation. Perhaps the difference with celebrities is that they have people come looking for them for thrills, fame by association and National Enquirer career opportunities (i.e., cash)

Let’s not forget that there is a Commandment “Thou shall not commit adultry.” Seems to apply to both married women and men and I doubt God would have given this commandment if this conduct was not something that was fairly prevelant.

I think some clever company out there should start marketing Tiger Woods drivers to married ladies with worries or suspicions. An votes for names? Might be a big “hit.” Better than a rolling pin for sure. The guys might get in line after seeing that thing laying in the corner of the room!

BunsenBurner–there is some relevant research that would help explain why there is such a high rate of a wife getting pregnant by someone other that the husband.

dingaling…good word. I remember thinking…that guy just CAN"T be married. Or maybe he has been divorced mutiple times. A perfect example of an a-hole.

07dad, if I read that right, it is a DNA testing company that provided that stat. People typically submit for that testing when they are suspicious about paternity (a family member of mine did), so it is not a good statistical sample. We can’t use that statistic to extrapolate to the general population.

In reading a news article in today’s local paper (turns out that Ms. Grubb has a local connection), she mentioned that Tiger Woods was at a night club when he saw her and approached her.

I don’t know what most husbands do when they are out of town on business, but going to nightclubs after a hard day at work is not sensible–it’s sure to lead to trouble…
