Would she have trouble staying in the US if they divorced?

“Gee, he sure knows how to pick 'em.”

Seems he is attracted to trashy women. I expect that there are plenty of other such women out there whom he has had affairs with during his marriage. He had lots of money, a security force guarding his privacy, a yen for sexual variety, and he had plenty of opportunity to travel away from his wife.

Maybe he thought that by seeing bar hostesses and similar women, he would be assured that the women wouldn’t cross paths with his wife or social circle. He forgot that the world is his social circle. That’s what it means to be a sports superstar. And that’s also what modern technology allows.

“Would she have trouble staying in the US if they divorced?”

She may be happy to return home after being so humiliated here. If they divorce, she’ll have the money to go wherever she wants…

I was just saying to my husband the other day (who works in sports) how I didn’t think it would be that fun to be married to a pro athlete like Tiger! Maybe I’m wrong, but to me the focus would be so narrow. Golf, golf golf, 24/7 and travel away from family…I wonder if people like him can converse about things besides their craft. I guess you could say the same thing about other high achievers, but that day I was just thinking about him.

I don’t see his wife as a trashy woman. Pathetic that he is throwing away his image, his family (I am betting they will be gone) and his fans with his extraordinarily bad judgement. Amazing how people of fame or fortune often feel the rules are written for someone else.

Next question: Does the prospect of a fast lifestyle motivate someone like Woods to perform well in their sport? If they slip from the top, will they have to settle for a more normal life? In Tiger’s case, will his golf game suffer in the coming years?

My statement about “trashy women” referred to the women he has had extramarital affairs with. There are some men who pick classy women for marriage and their image, but who lust after trashy women.

On a tangentially related subject, the below stood out in an article about the situation:

"The Swedes take great pride in putting the family unit at the core of their culture; it’s something we have covered on Living Golf extensively. "

[CNN World Sport: Blog Archive - Can Tiger rebuild tarnished image? - Blogs from CNN.com](http://worldsport.blogs.cnn.com/2009/12/03/tigers-crash-opens-can-of-worms/)

If that’s the case, Tiger’s wife may choose to dump him and move back home.

With the kids, I assume.

If she’s going through the motions of marriage counseling while getting a rewrite of the prenup that will give her lots of cash if she dumps him relatively soon, she’s a smart woman. I really hope she’s doing that and is holding her cards close to her chest just like Tiger held his affairs close to his.

I don’t have faith that a serial cheater who is a very practiced and usually successful liar will change particularly when he will continue to have everything going for him that made him a magnet for women before. I believe that the way Tiger was unfaithful to his wife reflects a sociopathy or narcissism that isn’t likely to change. Not only are such traits resistant to therapy, but also his being a celebrity athlete would feed those traits.

"Now that Tiger Woods has admitted to “transgressions,” many wonder what is next for his marriage. Many sources are saying that for now, wife Elin Nordegren, who is often a fixture on the 18th green at golf tournaments, is standing by her man.

“She and Tiger have had problems in the past, this is obviously as bad as it’s ever been, but she’s not leaving as of now,” said one person with knowledge of the couple’s marriage over the years.

A report in the Chicago Sun Times claims that “intense marriage counseling” is taking place, but Elin’s motivation might also be linked to her personal bank account.

“The links legend’s spouse is reportedly being paid a hefty seven-figure amount — immediately transferred into an account she alone controls — to stick with her husband,” Sun-Times columnist Bill Zwecker reported. He goes on to write that Elin demanded and is getting a total rewrite of the couple’s prenuptial agreement. "

Let’s not forget how this thread started. Elin could have been charged with assault. I hope the counseling and the post-nup address her issues, as well.

the wsj published an illustration of the accident today showing the path of the car and three separate collisions. Amazing. Either he was drunk or that blond wife of his was causing some MAJOR distraction.
I saw some of Larry King…some jerk calling him an alpha male and saying how this will blow over and Tiger will become more “real” to people and therefore more likable. Except for crazy “women’s groups” he’ll be just fine with his endorsements, he said. Makes me sick. Likable? Are the males of the world really going to see this as a cool "humanizing " thing?

I’m not following this thread but I just saw that it is now 25 pages long. Why?

It is very strange. What is your interest in this? Rumor-mongering? Prurient interest (like the rubber-neckers who slow down and watch traffic accidents)? Schadenfreude? Or maybe, in the case of some compulsive posters on this thread, there’s a grudge against Mr. Woods for his apparent lack of interest in women of color?

In any case, does it make any of you feel good to dive so deeply into this subject? If not, why do it? It doesn’t help anyone or anything.

I am just wondering.

Go ahead and flame me now. It really doesn’t matter to me.

(sheesh)

Oh, AnudduhMom, you can’t play high and mighty with us! You’ve been following this thread all along. Isn’t this your post taken from about midway through this thread?

My favorite kind of post. One that complains about people posting on a thread that they are posting on.

^^^ lol…caught.
Hey, I watch tv sometimes and this guy shows up in my living room hawking all kinds of stuff. Now he wants privacy. Hah! You can’t have it both ways.
Yeah, it’s interesting. A distraction. I follow all the serious stuff too but a diversion can be helpful once in a while.

I just had to note that just because you have steak in your house, that doesn’t mean you get to eat it every day, or even once a month. Not that this justifies the cheating, but I do wonder if that fact may have something to do with some of the cheating we see by celebrities and others.

And as for why this thread is so long: it’s so we can have something to point to when people say we are obsessed with Sarah Palin.

^^haha

One benefit of all discussions on CC is that you get to listen to other peoples thought processes. Often times I find myself enlightened by someones thoughts that differ from mine. Often times I reevaluate my own thoughts.

This particular discussion is a wealth of info on how people feel about infidelity, domestic abuse and marriage in general.

I believe if we all stepped in the Woods family shoes, we too would want privacy. Hawking stuff is his job, it does not allow us to peer into his kitchen windows.

For me, as a woman, sometimes I want to hit women, since they are doing just as much damage as the husband. Nobody can say that any of these 3 did not realize he was married. They had an option to say go away. If every woman said those words, maybe he’d get the idea that straying outside of the marriage is wrong and nobody is willing to help him break his marital vows.

Tiger because he is famous is getting more bad press then the women. In all fairness it took 2 to commit adultery. These women IMVHO have no morals or scruples, they were wrapped up in the illusion that Tiger wanted them. I have to ask if Tiger was a golf pro at the local golf course, driving an 8 yr old car, with 2 children and a wife, would they have laid down in bed with him? If the answer is no, not only are they disgusting for coming between a husband and wife, but they have another descriptor that comes before the word mistress…gold-digging.

I was watching the news this morning and one of them has given an interview to US. US stated she came to them, because she was hurt to find out he was cheating on her with other people. HUH? You’re hurt because he cheated on you while you helped him cheat on his wife?

I have stressed to our DD that any man who asks you to lie in bed with him while he is in a committed relationship with another, is a man who does not respect you or grasp the meaning of love. What he does grasp is sex!

I also have told her if he cheats on her with you, what makes you believe he won’t do the same to you? Tiger proved that in spades.

I love what Parnevik said …first he said if he spoke to Elin he would apologize for ever introducing them, then he went onto say his only advice would be to use a driver the next time instead of a 3 iron.

Finally the saddest thing in this scenario, is that with the internet, in a few yrs his 2 children will be able to google this and have to read all about it. Even if Tiger and Elin get past this, it will never truly go away because of his notoriety. Who says money can buy you happiness?

<<if that’s=“” the=“” case,=“” tiger’s=“” wife=“” may=“” choose=“” to=“” dump=“” him=“” and=“” move=“” back=“” home.=“”>></if>

I’d be surprised if the courts allowed her to take the kids out of the country away from their father. I don’t know about the state of Florida but they might view his ability(inability) to be a husband and his ability to be a father as two separate issues to consider.

Okay, I’ll answer (because I’m delaying taking the dog out in the rain).

toledo, yes, I posted that, way back there somewhere, and good job on finding it and posting it again! It could use a re-look.

This really isn’t a complaint, mr. or ms. 3bm, it is an actual question – I don’t know if you’ve reflexively posted on this thread, and it is immaterial to me, but my question for the people bringing this thread to 25 pages was:

Why the prurient interest? What does it bring you?

toneranger – I’m not sure how this can be “helpful”. Can you elaborate on how this is “helpful” to you?

(Why am I thinking right now of that scene in Galaxy Quest where all the little blue beings pretend to help “the little hurt one” before cannibalizing it, and then they see Tim Allen and the other Galaxy Questers and turn their attention and their sharp pointy teeth on them. I guess Tiger Woods is a distraction until someone on CC gets their attention …hmm, not sure.)
