Funny how the reports of Woods’ marital faux-pas make the actions of politicans like Clinton or Edwards seem so trivial. Is this because he happens to a black man? And a rich and (previously) adored black man to boot.

Oops, I am guilty of borrowing a couple of pages from someone else’s typical racial playbook. My bad! OTOH, Woods has no known affiliation with an Ivy League and does not seem to have espoused the “Angry Black Man and Must Hate the Whites” theories. So, this means he must deserve all of this character assasination, including claims of STD and whatever sin makes for a good offensive post.

I don’t think that anyone made claims about STD’s. They just stated that the individuals involved should be tested for them. STD’s propogate through unprotected sex. If you find that you’ve been in a non-monogamous relationship you should get tested. Just good health practice.

*WHAT!!?? *I re-read the last two pages of posts and could not find anything that could have prompted this. Are you race-baiting, or just being sarcastic (and bad at it), or what? Who said anything about his race? And who suggested that renowned horndogs Clinton and Edwards are trivial by comparison? (And he’s not exactly black, anyway.)

Maybe these companies should play the odds better by thinking twice about giving huge endorsement money to married celebrities, and concentrating instead on unmarried ones like Derek Jeter. Who can have as many girlfriends as he wants. Not that I’ve ever heard of him having more than one at a time. (I do find it rather amazing that he’s been in the spotlight of New York for 14 years now, with never even a hint of scandal. Of course, reading in the recent Sports Illustrated “Sportsman of the Year” article about him that he still, at age 35, speaks to his parents every single day, raises him even higher in my estimation!)

This was was neatly sandwiched between claims of being a “non-involved” father and not be able to resist the attraction of his sister-in-law. A nice series of classy posts by the same author.

xiggi–any woman whose husband was cheating on her with multiple partners would want to be aware of this fact…not just because she would prefer protected sex, but mostly because she would probably prefer to go find a new sex partner. Cuz…ewwwww.

But a man who is sleeping with porn stars and party girls??? and doesn’t wear condoms? that’s like playing russian roulette, and not just with his own life.

What on earth this has to do with being black would have to be something you would need to figure out for yourself…as in “why would you even think this was about race?” I mean, honestly.

Oh, since when has the gratuitous incorporation of race in threads become an issue on College Confidential?

And, fwiw, I am simply very surprised about the decision process that prompts someone to decide which black (or half-black) person deserves blind and undying support and which one deserve the heaps of accusatory and offensive speculation. The only obvious sign is clearly … hatred. The reasons behind it are more obscure. At least, the Palin Syndrome was easier to identify!

Agree with you, jym626. One would think that the Kobe Bryant rape scandal would have nixed his career, but he just gave his wife a gigantic rock, laid low for a while and then life seems to have moved on to the next person with a scandal.

He is supposedly one quarter black, one quarter Chinese, one quarter Thai, one eighth Americn Indian and one eighth Dutch. That makes him more Asian than black. I think I have read that he refers to himself as Asian.

He can refer to himself however he wants, but if he weren’t famous, and were walking down the street in the U.S., people would view him as just an African American man. If he weren’t famous, he’d also be viewed as African American if he were in Asia.

It is interesting, however, that with all of the attention now on his sex life, I haven’t seen any general Internet chatter expressing concern about the race of his various women. The only time I’d seen such a discussion were in a couple of articles about how some black people somehow felt insulted that he dated only white women.

Meanwhile, I’m a black woman, and considering his dating habits, I think nonwhite women are lucky that apparently Tiger isn’t interested in us.

^^^^^
My D is 1/2 black, 1/2 white (Irish.) In first grade she wore a head band tor St. Patricks day with those boingy shamrock things sticking up 6 inches or so. She told everybody she was Irish, and got laughs from her classmates. She came home crying, wondering why nobody believed her that she was Irish. I had to explain to her that even though she was 50% Irish, she was also 50% black, and that society will always identify her as black, but she knows her entire heritage.

My point being, TW can call himself Chinese, Thai or NA, but he will still be seen as a black man.

Back to the topic, I think if the porn star allegations are true, he is finished.
