Tiger Woods

Thrilled for Tom Watson! Cheering for the old guy  my personal favorite golfer.

Seems Tiki Barber is trying to take some of the attention from Tiger.

Not to mention Jesse James

True, but I don’t think Jesse was much to write home about to begin with. Tiger and Tiki seemed to be successful at staying above the fray. I would not have expected what happened from either of them. Jesse - not so much.

Re Nile ad–if you are talking about the ad, it got your attention. That’s what a successful ad is supposed to do.

As cartera45 said, its really all about our feelings of what we expected from Tiger. When someone becomes part of our lives through our adoption of them from their media exposure, we develop expectations concerning that person. Yep, Tiger let us down.

Some of you mental health folks will have to make suggestions how we get passed all our disappointment. Personally, I think it is fine that Tiger has returned and is doing well in his career field. And, I still wish the best to Elin, the kids and Tiger–what ever that involves and where ever that takes them. But, hey that’s just me and I’m an alkie in recovery so what would you expect, right?

Seems that some of the most “outraged” people about how Tiger is doing now are Tiger’s ex-extra marital sex partners. At least those who seem to still be able to make a buck out of it. Can some one explain the continuing outrage of those not directly involved?

Yup, the ad attracted attention, good or bad, as it is designed to do (as I mentioned in #1633). I wonder how much say Tiger had in the production of that ad. He’s lost so many millions in dropped sponsorships- I suspect he doesnt want to make serious waves with Nike. I lauged whenat teh airport recently–Accenture’s ads are now if a big elephant on a surfboard. Goodbye tiger, hello elephant!

Add outrage by those not involved?? Sounds like wat we saw in the Sarah Palin thread ;)

I wouldn’t call myself outraged. In fact, I am pretty non-judgmental. I had enough growing pains in my life to keep me humble. Up until now, I have just sad that such a brilliant man could have squandered so much.

The ads, however, are an appeal to ME as a potential buyer of Nike products. And the latest ad got my attention & my reaction was anger.

Over the last few months it has dawned on me that Nike has several male spokesmen who have not shown much respect for their wives. So, as much as I like my dri-fit pants, I think it’s time to look for another brand. The last ad was the final straw. Now I don’t think my mini-boycott is going to mean beans to Nike - but it’s my little gesture.

By the way - Tom Watson & Freddie were awesome!

I guess Nike ran tests on this ad like I understand most major corporations do. It might be interesting to see if the Nike quaterly reports show any up or down tick in Nike sales after these ads.

jym626–Sarah who? She’s not claiming to have bedded Tiger, is she?

Hmmm
I see a pattern forming
mixed reviews about Tiger’s Nike commercial, mixed reviews about Bristol’s PSA., and a common theme-- wear a co
I mean
“pause before you play”. Or was it paws before you play. One of those.

^^^^^
Or could be pause before you use your paws.

Tis a bit late, the barn door was already open.

Tiger gets attacked from above:

[FAA halts plane towing Tiger Woods taunts - Yahoo! News](http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100409/ap_on_sp_go_ne/glf_masters_banner_plane)

:)

Plenty of people have boycotted Nike in the past, so it probably makes some difference. Though most of those people did so for [meaningful reasons](<a href=“Nike, Inc. - Wikipedia”>Nike, Inc. - Wikipedia), rather than the athletes Nike chose to sponsor.

Point well taken - I should have been paying more attention all along.

I didn’t watch the tournament, but I did just hear that Phil Mickelson won the Masters, with Tiger in a tie for 4th. Don’t know anything about Mickelson, but I kind of like the fact that Tiger Woods is not the only golfer on the planet.

Woods was upset after the loss, but being 4th ain’t that bad in my book. What was interesting was all the cursing he seemed to do. At one point he hit a ball poorly and used Christ’s name as a curse word. My thought was what does it mean for a Buddhist to use Christ’s name as a curse word?

I thought he stated he was making a conscious effort to curb he curse words while on the course.

Maybe he was off the course and thats why he was cursing?? ;)

He lost–oh well. Now can the media move on to something else?

Yesterday’s Masters was great golf and a great story. Tiger being petulant on the course. You could tell from the beginning the differences between Tiger and Phil. Tiger walks through the crowd with sunglasses on making no effort to connect with the crowd. Phil walks through shaking hands and high fiving the crowd and grinning from ear to ear. Tiger hits bad shots and pouts. Phil misses an easy putt early because a pod from a tree drops on his line and caused the putt to go awry and he just shakes it off. Tiger finishes with a birdie and he makes a sarcastic shrug and then acts ****ed off during his interview. Phil finishes with a birdie and goes to his family and hugs his kids and wife with tears running down his face. His wife battling breast cancer had only made it to see the final hole. Phil has his third green jacket and a loving family. What does Tiger have?
