I like my auto sensinf wipers, but when it rains hard, I always override to make them go faster!
They had to replace the transmission on my 2018 Pilot. Luckily it was still under warranty at 47,000 miles.
I picked up my Lexus on Thursday, but really havenât had the time to play with it much. Both my aunt and uncle were in the hospital this week, so I have been helping out there, plus with my mother.
I currently know how to drive my car, but that is about it! The salesman, who I liked at first, but feel very neutral about now, spent a very rushed 10 minutes with me. He went over the basics, set up my app and sent me off. I felt very rushed as he had another appointment, even thought I scheduled this time with him. I had gone by Tuesday to have them give me a trade in price and to sign paperwork, as I needed to get to the hospital. We agreed I would come back Thursday afternoon to trade my car and pick up the new. The salesman said he was free all afternoon, so we scheduled for 4:30. Once I finished with my mother and her dental appt., I texted him to see if I could come earlier; he said that was fine as he was free all day. Once he took my tag off my old car, he handed it to me and said goodbye. Not a thank-you, handshake, or photo with the big red bow on my car that I see others with. I saw the bows in the bay where the car was parked, and I really didnât want that picture, but he didnât even ask! I have heard about others getting gift baskets or coffee mugs with their purchase; I got nada.
As I was preoccupied with calls concerning my aunt and uncle on Tuesday, I realized I left the lot with not one piece of paper or email. On Thursday I asked if I could get a copy of all the paperwork I signed, which was on a giant tablet(it was actually the entire top of his desk) in the Finance guys office, I was told I would get that. Had to email again the next day to actually get it. There was an issue with my current car tag which follows me, so I might have to wait for the state to send a new tag, then go by the tag office and have mine reinstated. All while I paid the dealership to deal with the tag application.
I have been watching some of the shorter videos for the car. Today I need to set my garage door; have a clicker in the car for the moment. The front end and hood is much larger than I remember from my test drive, making parking a bit different that my old car. The screen let me know I am too close to the car next to me, but I donât have a feel yet what is too close; learning each day! I am just surprised this feels bigger than my MDX.
Definitely a smooth drive. Working on getting my seat to the setting I like; I keep tweaking it each day. I havenât driven at night yet, but that will be this week. Overall I like the car, but believe I would like almost any new car!
One think I noticed the car did not have-driver side armrests. My MDX had front armrests; right arm for driver, left arm for passenger. I always used those in my car, resting my elbow there while driving. I of course can live without this, but didnât notice on my test drive and would not have kept me from getting the car.
A young saleswoman showed me everything when I picked up my car and I think it took over an hour. She was opinionated in a way I appreciate â as,in âI leavi it this way because I really mostly care about x.â
Iâd go back if youâre stuck or add it to that first free maintenance. Itâs in nobodyâs interest for you to have features you canât access.
Although dealer people may not know every feature listed in the hundreds of pages of the ownerâs manual.
I am to go back once I know the car better to meet with the tech specialist. This will be a long appointment where they will go over all my settings. It was suggested to wait until I was somewhat familiar with the car and know what I needed help with. I can appreciate waiting.
Lexus dealers will have a product concierge. Itâll be a requirement of having the franchise from Toyota.
The good news is OP can get from point A to B.
The rest will come with time.
I am still learning all the electronics in this car! There are times it beeps at me while driving, but goes away quickly, that I am not sure while it beeped.
So far I am enjoying it, and my 5 year old GD approves of the color. Love having car play and the large screen; makes my driving to unknown places much easier. Still trying to get the driverâs seat where I love it, so tweaking it every so often.
Two problems I am having:
1-I seem to not park straight when entering a parking space. While the screen shows I am crooked, I thought I pulled in straight. I donât know if it is the flat/large hood that is my issue, or if this car is just bigger, or wider than my old SUV. I am not trying to squeeze into tight space, and going farther down an aisle until I get this right. It is frustrating to pull in and out of a space to straighten myself out, especially when someone is waiting behind me. Maybe I need to go to a parking lot and just practice over and over again into different spaces until I get this down. I feel like an old lady not knowing how to park; I was able to park a week ago in my old car.
The second problem is my lower back and left buttocks hurt when driving. While I do have lower back disk issues, I havenât had trouble in years. I donât know if this is a coincidence that my back is bothering me, or if it is the seat position; another reason I keep playing with the seat. I happen to be having PT for my neck, so the PT gave me a few home exercises to try. I sure hope it isnât the car! While I loved my lumbar support in my old SUV, this one seems to hit at my tailbone, not my lower back, so I have it mostly off right now to see if that helps.
Other than those issues, I am enjoying the car.
Sorry did not read all posts.
But, the things I really want to know in a new car- how to connect ApplePlay, turn on the lights, and turn on the windshield wipers.
That may be the coffee break icon beeping at you! Not sure if thatâs still a thing but it is in my old Mercedes - first time on a trip to a football game after an hour or so the beeping and steaming coffee cup icon pops up on the dash asking if I need to take a break (maybe suggesting!).
First things I told my kids to do in a rental car before they pull out of the lot is to turn the lights to auto and find out where the windshield wipers are and hook up the iPhone to the entertainment system and set maps and voice instructions.
Oh, I have the time for a break turned off! I had that on a rental car last month; the coffee cup showed up about every 15 minutes and drove me batty. I made sure I didnât have that pop up before I left the lot.
I do get a warning for looking away when reaching for a tissue.
What? How does this work???
I have also never heard about the coffee cup/break thing. Sounds like Starbucks had a hand in that one!!!
Yeah, these new cars detect when you arenât paying attention and take your eyes off the road, whether it is nodding off, or playing on your phone. There is an alert for almost everything now.
I will never own a car that does that, unless I can immediately turn it off.
Wow - wonder if your insurance company gets that info?
I thought DHâs RAV4 does it based on elapsed driving time. Iâm always asking if the car says we can stop for coffee! But now you have me wondering if itâs something else that turns on the coffee cup light. If only it brewed the coffee!
Our Mercedes sprinter does it if we drive a long time without a break. I have to admit sometimes I think- well maybe we should take the next rest stop or gas station.
Or links it to Siri or one of the coffee chain apps to order the coffee ahead so itâs waiting for you âŠ
Thatâs the way our 2014 MB E350 is - if you drive without stopping over 1 to 2 hours (not sure what the timing is, it pops up the beeping coffee cup) - we also think - should we or shouldnât we stop, depends on how much further we need to go or knowledge of places to stop ahead. Edit to say, maybe itâs a mileage/distance popup.
