Tips and Tricks for Makeup Lovers!

I tried the popular clear/invisible one… can remember what its called. I didn’t like the texture once on. I really love the EltaMD one, which was what my dermatologist recommended for myself and my teen.

I have to admit that I find the texture of the super goop very silicone feeling. Not my favorite. I found the skin tint oxidizing. Oompa loompa bad

I like the Tula and origins texture better.

I am sensitive to silicone based products and so that’s a me issue.

I’m surprised at how many people our age use any type of foundation. When I try, even tinted moisturizer, BB cream, CC cream, it just settles and emphasizes my wrinkles.

I wouldn’t be caught without foundation, ever. I’m not sure I’ve ever gone a (non-seriously sick or surgery) day without foundation, even camping. I was showered and made up the morning after giving birth. Amount, type, and application are key to ensuring foundation enhances rather than than emphasizes. Many of today’s foundation formulations also include moisturizer and sunscreen, so they can be one and done. I would feel totally naked without makeup.

I always use a makeup primer. I don’t think foundation settles in my lines.

Maybe I don’t have any lines! Ha! I do!

I was going to buy the Milk Makeup and I have a 20% off coupon for Ulta and Sephora. Unfortunately my color match is sold out both places!

It’s very light and goes over skin very smoothly. I just use few pumps.

I love the Ilia blush sticks and mascara.

maybe mail order?

One thing that is harder for me to apply as I’ve aged are my eyes. I’ve never had huge eyes, but they weren’t tiny. I swear when I look at old pictures my eyes are 1/4 smaller. I looked it up and sure enough….our eyes do get smaller as all the tissues start sinking into our skull ever so slowly. I’m sure it doesn’t to many, but it sure did to me.

I used to be bummed because I had smaller eyes, now I look at those old pics and they look huge in comparison.

New tricks to learn! Same with lips. Lose of collage and they turn in. I’ve ditched most of the lipstick I used to wear. Literally threw them away.

Now I just wear light shades,(my favorite is Charlotte Tilbury Coral Kiss) cover with L’Oréal no. 800 nude and top it with a MAC lipglass.I think it’s called Aphrodite. They look loads larger than before I started this new trick. I do like with a nudish NYC pencil. I don’t take the pencil all the way to the corners.

That was online. I’m an hour from the Ulta and Sephora.

I looked again and my color match from Sephora was in stock at Ulta so I ordered it.

@conmama I think eyes and eyelids are one of those aging things. As are lips. My lips are nonexistent

Same! I feel like my skin has to breathe for lack of a better description. I use Olay daily moisturizer with spf and don’t feel like that is too heavy.

Also a fan of the mascara. I try to only use cruelty free products and all Ilia products meet that hurdle. I think the only product I use that doesn’t meet the 100% cruelty free hurdle is the Olay moisturizer mentioned above. I follow Sarah James for product recommendations, she does a lot of research: https://whoorl.substack.com/

I’m mostly the same way about some kind of foundation. Even though I don’t have many wrinkles for my age, I have redness in some areas and sometimes uneven or splotchy tone, so I feel like I need some level of foundation. However, I have been working for the last year or so to find the right moisturizers, primers, foundation or skin tint and concealers that will be the best for me. It’s been a challenge to find the right ones that will not break up or settle as much in fine lines.

I switched to tinted moisturizers about 8 years ago. I was never a big makeup person but I don’t like my skin with nothing on. I don’t have many wrinkles but I do have redness and some veins that annoy me. I just like to even out my skin tone. Most people would think I’m not wearing anything. I also use a powder bronzer to give a bit more color. Color matching is my biggest challenge. I miss having a department store with good makeup consultants.
I appreciate heeding bout the different products on this thread.

I think there was some discussion about Jones Road Beauty and mini sizes of their miracle balm.

One week only they are offering mini sizes

I have been using the mascara and brow gel from Prime Promedics and love them! Someone here recommended the mascara and I agree , it’s great.

So I ordered some eyeshadow and some powder to cover my gray roots a few weeks ago. It was supposedly delivered, but I never got it. I responded back to the “ your items have been delivered “ email and they sent replacement products free. I was impressed by that.

I haven’t used the powder, but the eyeshadow ( which is cream based) really does brighten my eyes.

I recently decided to try the Jones Road what the foundation and the miracle balm and I am loving both.
I was looking for something light weight to even my skin tone and the WT foundation is just right. It evens things out without being too heavy or drying, I have dry skin, and it gives a little luminescence. The balm gives a little color without being too much and it is quite lasting, still visible at the end of a long day. I’m very happy with it and think it looks very natural which was what I was looking for. I have tried a few tinted moisturizers and didn’t like the feel of the ones I tried. One negative is the smell of the foundation, it has a medicinal odor but it dispels pretty quickly. For what it’s worth I ordered 2 of the miracle balm, one wasn’t a good color for me and they exchanged it no charge and no need to return.
