'Tis the most wonderful time of the year- playoff hockey of course!

@soccerguy315 Raising a glass to you and your Caps! Hope Orpik is okay.

thanks @alwaysamom! I hope a week or so might be enough time to get him back on the ice.

Really terrible display from the Flyers and their crowd tonight… not good for the NHL. Throwing things on the ice. The fans got a penalty for the team. Very bad hit on Orlov that sent him into the boards and as it was happening I literally thought he might’ve broken his neck.

If this was European soccer, the next game might be played in an empty arena with zero fans, but I don’t think the NHL has ever done that.

Also, I think hockey overtime (playoffs) is perhaps the most stressful thing in sports. The game can literally end almost any second, and it usually ends on a mistake or at least a dirty goal, as opposed to a skillful highlight reel worthy goal.

Penalty kicks in soccer are close, but you know how many rounds there are and it goes in a pre-determined process.

This is the first time the Caps have ever held a 3–0 lead in a 7-game series. Think about that for a while—yeah, they don’t have the playoff history of a Montréal or Detroit, but they’ve been in their fair share of playoff series, and have never gone from a 2–0 lead to a 3–0 lead in a 7-game series.

And hockey fans from other cities wonder why Caps fans get more worried with every game they win…

I do feel for the teams that never win.

I am a Lions fan after all :stuck_out_tongue:

I expressed this last year but it frustrates me that the Wings never seem to play to their full potential. I don’t know why it is but it always feels like playoffs are the goal and not the Cup… and I’m spoiled so that doesn’t feel like enough to me.

we are Flyers fans, and were exasperated by the end of the game behavior. Honestly, we’re an average team with occasional flashes of awesome (but never in April!) playing the best team the NHL has seen in years. And you are upset they are getting swept? What did you think? Sit your drunk self down and dont’ shame Ed Snider like that.

We’re rooting for the Caps. And are thinking the Pens look like winners, too (oh no!! )

When the Caps miraculously made their only deep playoff run (to the finals) in 1998, romani’s team that never plays to their full potential swept us in a slaughter… lol

Did I mention that I’m pessimistic about my Wings? :stuck_out_tongue:

I really thought the Wings were going to pull that one out but it’s just too dangerous giving TB the powerplay, which last night resulted in all three goals.

Pittsburgh looked very strong. A terrific offensive game outshooting the Rangers almost 2-1 but the highlight was their defensive play. They just shut the Rangers down in the 3rd. And the 21 year old goalie? Wow, what a thrill for him.

Chicago had a tough game against the Blues goalie, who was great. This seems to be the Blues’ year to advance and one more game will do it. I hope that the moronic Andrew Shaw is suspended for his appalling behavior.

Caps! Caps! Caps! Neuvert (former Caps goalue) is in net for the Flyers today since Mason was benched. I can see him being highly motivated. I just hope noone gets hurt. The Caps play better under pressure this year, so I have mixed feelings about a sweep vs a Game 5.

Alan May (who is darned fine to look at, not to mention is an excellent analyst) eviscerated the Flyers’ actions the other night. S2 and I went to the Hershey/Syracuse (farm team) outdoor game in south Philly a couple of years ago. (Even went to Pat’s Steaks.) We were the only ones in our section wearing Caps gear. Got some good-natured ribbing, but never felt threatened. I got hooked on hockey in the 80s when I lived in Philly and had a Canadian officemate who ate, drank and dreamed hockey. You better believe both her kids played! Had another coworker who was the D of a Flyers player.

Between the Caps and Nats, it’s a good spring.

I’m going to the Sharks game tonight against our nemesis LA Kings. Hoping to go up 3-1!

You won’t see that…sorry.

Caps played poorly for 2 periods and turned it on in the 3rd. Neuvirth played really well for the Flyers.

Before the series I predicted Caps in 5, so hopefully we wrap it up on Friday.

Hope the Flyers player that took a nasty fall into the boards is ok.

Saw an update on CBS Sports online at 10:40 tonight that all tests have been negative so far.

rough way to go there for your Wings romani =/

guess it looks like this is the possible end for Datsyuk… definitely one of the best players we’ve had the chance to watch over the last ~15 years.

Couldn’t even watch.

All right, y’all, which team’s bandwaggon should I jump on?

Even my DW, who knows almost nothing about hockey, was like “what the heck was the Red Wings goalie doing behind the net? He should have stayed in the goal.”

I think I am going to root for the Caps, since they’ve never won it all.

The Flyers player was released from the hospital this evening. He will not play Friday night, but it’s good to hear he is not seriously injured.

Romani – sorry. S2 and I were cheering for Detroit!
