'Tis the most wonderful time of the year- playoff hockey of course!

We’re gonna hide the haggadahs instead of the afikomen

I wish I hadn’t watched @romanigypsyeyes . The Wings actually played pretty well for much of the game, but it was still like a slow-motion train wreck – you just knew something terrible was about to happen, and sure enough, it did.

Too many wasted opportunities. 1-for-24 on the power play over the past 5 games? disgraceful.

@romanigypsyeyes we wept at our house :((
No idea who to root for now. We’re Floridian but clearly cannot back Tampa. [-X

And the surprising thing is that they did it without Stamkos!

I think the Flyers will join the Wings after tonight’s game.

Flyers win! Series returns to Philadelphia for Games 6 and 7.

Game 7, if needed, will be in Washington, @LuckyCharms913 .

I simply repeat what I said upthread:

@alwaysamom, thanks for the correction. And I know that statistically there is a chance that there won’t even be a Game 7, but I have to mentally proceed as if it’s a definite.

We are not happy

Sorry for those of you whose teams are out. I often think about what’s worse, not getting in or getting booted out quickly in the first round. Fortunately, for us in Toronto, the Leafs don’t usually give us an option. A few years ago when they finally got into the playoffs, they broke out hearts with that awful game against Boston, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! That was so painful.

I really hope that the Caps find their way in the next game. And I say that as a Flyers fan from before expansion even arrived. My parents were friends with all of the original executive team, including Ed Snyder who passed away last week. We went to all home, and some away, games right from the start. I grew up with two kids who are now NHL general managers. I remember when her mom was pregnant with Lauren Hart. Her dad taught at my high school as his day job, while announcing Flyers’ games for many years. I just don’t like the way that the Flyers play now and some of their fans’ appalling behavior is just too much.

I’m hoping that the Penguins put it away this afternoon.

Sigh. Of. Relief.

dfbdfb, tell me about getting more worried with every game they win. I wasn’t too upset when the Sharks lost game 3 against the Kings, because being up 3-0 on the Kings would have brought flashbacks.

But now the Sharks have kicked the Kings to the curb. And as far as the Ducks are concerned, I have two good possibilities ahead of me: either the Preds take out the trash, or the Sharks send the Ducks golfing. (I do not dwell on the third possibility.)

the Caps survived to advance. yay!

now we get the Penguins…

I think the Caps have only beat the Penguins once in the playoffs. Bleh.

Soccerguy, it will be a tough Caps-Pens series, but I think they have a better shot at winning than they would have against the Rangers. The Rangers are in their heads in a bad way. Pittsburgh will be real competition and the Caps have been stepping up this year when the stakes are high. Or so I keep telling myself!

I added another weagle to my FB page today. Four down, twelve to go.

Congrats to the fans of the Pens, Capitals, Stars, Lightning, Sharks, and the Islanders for their teams making it to the next round. The two other series could be finished tonight with one possibly taking another few days.

It’s too bad that the Capitals and Penguins meet so early in the playoffs. It should be a great series, at least that’s what I’m hoping.

It will be the REAL Eastern Conference Finals.

Go Caps!

And once again I say, Islanders gggggoooooooaaaaallllllll! I have been up very late cleaning up my kitchen from the debris field created by Seders, so have had a ready reason to watch double overtime games. Nauseating, yet so satisfying. Tampa Bay, here we come!

There’s almost nothing as exciting as overtime hockey. You can’t look away even for a second or you can miss the game-winner.

Go, go Brouwer Ranger!!!
