All corporately named stadiums sound dumb. I don’t think “Little Caesar’s Arena” is any worse than, say, “Big Sandy Superstore Arena” or “O.co Coliseum” or “Whataburger Field”.
And it’s not just the US either… “Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena”, anyone?
The Sharks building has had various names over the years, the worst being HP Pavilion. But Sharks fans all call it the Tank, whatever its nominal name is.
the worst name is the University of Phoenix Stadium where the Arizona Cardinals play football…
as the University of Phoenix does not have a football team, since it is an online school. And it sounds like the NFL team is playing in a college stadium!
Woohoo…happy tonight! My beloved Sharks had a lackluster 1st and so-so 2nd but exploded for 5 goals inthe 3rd (OK two were empty net). I will be at The Tank Sunday for Game 2.
I was camping Friday night, so I couldn’t watch the Sharks on TV. But I was lying in my tiny tent, listening to the game on my phone. I’m now 2-0 for games I listened to in my tent because I was doing an out-of-town bike ride the next day. If the Sharks’ situation gets dire, I may have to get in the tent for another game.
Soccerguy, if only I had more $! The tickets get progressively more expensive with each game.
Record for playoff games I’ve attended over the years: 1-3.
Sharks win! Three for five on the power play in the series.
This game I got to see (on TV, I mean, not in person). And when I was watching that first power play, the one that didn’t score, I thought, “That is not a power play that Nashville wants to see on the ice, ever.” The first unit, the old guys, is amazing, and the second unit, the kids, is also a threat.
Well, Nashville didn’t come through to have the visiting team in each series win one on the road. So it’s the only series that isn’t tied 1-1. Glad to see the Blues take one in Dallas.
It’s fun seeing these western teams that we don’t see often in Toronto. Although, last night I didn’t have a crowd to watch with since most of the family was at Game 7 for the Raptors, who beat Indiana. Woohoo!
