I did not. I was responding to Tippu’s question about the term “kota type”.
I never said he did. Again, I was merely clarifying the term to Tippu which led me to go more in depth into the topic.

My answer to this would be-Cbse teachers won’t be able to manage coaching syllabus.

Oh and not everyone has the ability to do coaching syllabus. To change the syllabus and include coaching stuff wouldn’t be sensible. And dear Kapil Sibal only wishes to make things “easier” for students isn’t it? There’s no way he’s going to bring back Math A, B, C which bdw had a lot more IIT stuff. They did away with it didn’t they?
What purpose does this statement serve? Nobody’s forcing anyone to go to coaching.

I sometimes hate being a commerce streamer…there are so many science students out there…
I am the only commerce student in my maths tuition class, and they don’t leave a chance to say ‘this is out of your league’ whenever they ask a question just because commerce students are supposed to have a ‘lighter’ course. Urghhh…!!!

I didn’t realize it is customized for each country/region. Anyway, today’s google commemorates Rosa Parks day. It happened 55 years ago (in 1955).

Itsmylife- How is IML? Nick always made me pause and think since it has no correlation to your ID or IRL name. So how would this acronym do? It’s non discriminatory and um, non wierd. :p

BTW pixie you seem like an stalwart supporter of IIT. Let me just make my stand a little bit clearer: I don’t have anything against the IITs. I’m just against the coaching centers. After all, essentially the CBSE syllabus is the JEE syllabus.
2nd, I’d really love if the exam was based on aptitude and would apply to ALL engineering colleges in the country. Wouldn’t it make things a hell lot easier?

BTW, just a hypothetical question. (I’m assuming you are taking your JEE exams). If you get into one of the IITs and one your US colleges, which one would you choose?

Bubbles-Dude what a coincidence, the senior charity is organizing a semi-formal on the last day of exams and the theme is masquerade! I suggested it and everyone liked it! Haha amazing
And whoa, I was one of the top posters for whatever week? I’m not sure if I should be happy or annoyed that I’m spending so much time here.

^^ Yes, I am! I admire the institute greatly and get pretty touchy sometimes.
I’m not taking JEE. I see no point in adding to the 4 lakh already taking it and spending 6 hrs in that horrible room.

I enjoyed coaching in 11th a LOT and I felt that what they taught there was a lot more fun and informative than what school teaches. There was more use of the brain and less rote. If I was the decision maker, I would close schools and declare coaching classes school just for the quality of teaching there!! The teachers were far superior from any CBSE teacher I have seen (and I go to the best delhi tutors for CBSE). Well they had to be since they were teaching an advanced curriculum. As far as I know, even the lower batches didn’t have bad teachers. I left because I couldn’t have managed ECs, school and applying abroad along with doing well there. And I didn’t want to just attend for the heck of it.

I’m not taking IIT. I went for coaching because I enjoyed the classes very much (YES! I DID. So there. Call me weird if you like. Everyone does when they hear this. :)) not because I wanted to do engineering. Which I don’t want to do. So why should I take the test?
Had my aim been engineering, I wouldn’t have been looking at US schools at all. IIT would have been my primary aim. The only place better would be MIT and that’s out of reach. No Oly’s.
I’m only applying because I want to discover what exactly I want to do. Had I known what I wanted, I would have stayed here, gone to Stephen’s and been very happy.
IIT doesn’t want that. They refused themselves.
That’s true. Darn it! What now?
I was hoping I was the only one to notice and it suited so well! sniffles Any other suggestions?

Hi Meghna! No, you’re not!
People take some time to respond to chance threads so just hold out there. You’ll recieve replies soon enough in the college admissions section! It’s dawn in america.

^Olympiads. NOO!! You are NOT cutting FB :p

Pixie-I’ve done it before. Worked pretty well. I’ll give you a heads up when I decide to. Probably this Saturday. The exams are just way too important for me to get distracted.
Anyone here thinking of majoring in English L&L in Uni?
