Dhikhr can become really intense. Did you get to see it? It’s a very interesting, if somewhat misunderstood, tradition of Sufism.

Arun I am nt able to sent essay,it exceeds character limit

Please stop this nonsense. It is not funny.

Sorry >.<…really. I didnt mean to…well offend any 1 here. I wont say anything related to my reaction on the scores now, I promise.

No need to apologize. You need counselling/help. Talking about suicide, even as a joke, is not a trivial matter. I can understand how upset you must be with SAT score. Suicide is a very selfish act carried out by sick people. Perhaps you have no idea what it does to friends and family. I do. If you truly feel depressed about your scores the way you expressed here then you need to seek medical/psychiatric help.

R-Yea I’m agnostic so I’m spiritually deprived like you (sort of). I still love the music though. It makes me feel calm and excited at the same time…I think.
It’s a bit futile trying to explain how it makes me feel. It makes me feel really really good, and let’s leave it at that.
Meghna-You can email it if you want, I’ll PM you my id.

Nemo, I know exactly how you feel but I don’t understand much of what they sing. I never understood what La ilaha ilallah meant until I looked up Dhikr a few minutes ago!

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Salamat Ali Khan are two of my favorite singers. (I don’t care too much for NFAK’s fusion stuff.)

Ha I barely understand what they sing. I just love the notes and the instrumental bits. Sometimes though when my dad is around he explains what it means because he knows Urdu and a bit of Arabic
I love NFAK (Nice acronym :p). So does my dad. My dad’s the one who got me into Urdu poetry and music. It’s a beautiful language.
On a sort of unrelated note, I love Indian Ocean. I was so sad when the lead singer (Asheem Chakravarty) died last year.

I was the first post on the 100th page, whadup!

I didn’t know about Indian Ocean. They sound very good. I like the background music as well.

Tipu… how should I put it. I do have a very good idea of what suicide does. I lost some1 very precious to be because his mind had sodden off to hell. As I said, Suicide is the most coward way of buying a ticket to other world. I read Bhagwat geeta over that person for 13 damn days. If you squint clearly, and if u noe indian values, u ll noe who committed suicide.

Evry1 has a way of dealing with the things they hate. I do it with taking a mickey outta them (although ppl rarely laugh). I have lost a lot Tipu, so much that I would trade my childhood with anyone. Heck, I wouldn’t evn do that, why make that person’s life unhappy. I have always been a loner, and reasured only a few ppl. I realized it late, like the tube light i AM, that I need to loosen up and may b move past things, which I did. Thank God to that. Dun worry, I dun need psychiatric help over nething, I moved past the phase wen I needed it long ago.

Gosh…I realized I became serious…fans her head dramatically phew My mind seems to have gone a little hot. Need to cool down.

Arunemo, we have both Micro and Macro in 12th, while 11th is Indian economy and Stats.

Sufi music makes me feel great whenever I listen to it! But I can’t understand the language so the meaning’s pretty much lost.

It’s commendable how you guys have SUCH diversified interests and its amazing how Tippu knows SO MUCH about Indian culture-- probably more than my parents also.
Good stuff.

And Meghna, just give the sat2 again man whats the big deal!

I think she should instead concentrate on the boards. I feel that she should not head blindly for something that is so…not there and in the process ruin all her chances of staying here.

Meghna, this is a tiring, frustrating and time consuming yearlong process. This time is not for stepping into college applications as a newbie. If you do want to continue with applying to say, Sarah Lawrence and other SAT optional schools, then please do follow my previous suggestion and GO to USIEF. I believe that the advice would you get there should be your starting point. Let the counsellor guide you.
Otherwise use a professional college counselling service and let them do everything for you. Please just do what I said, otherwise all this might just result in being a waste of precious time and mind space.

ani, you make me blush. I’ll keep quiet.

I am going with pix. i need to prepare for my boards too. I have non-existent aptitude for Maths and need to prepare for it.

Aah and Tipu, that indian tradition comment wasn’t meant to offend you. And I saw my prev post and I think it got too personal. I am sorry guys >.<. It was true, but offending nonetheless.

Aah and Pix, I am taking counseling sessions from study overseas . in Nehru place. Its quite near to passport office, and I have recently applied to renew mine for 10 yrs passport. I am doing all the work for Canadian Uni only. I hv gt sum1 helping me with that. Oh and, does ne one of u know what is the cut off for entry in UBC vancouver/ okanagan?

I am sorry once again. I will retake, bt not this year, may b next year wen this boards headache is over, and if I dun get selected in the apps I am sending this year.

I meant Indian traditions, nt Indian values. Sorry Tipu >.<. I am so sorry
I feel horrible ryt now. I was mad at so many things wen I wrote that…I need to work on my self control

takes out notepad and adds self control To the ‘to do’ list

Yeah apply to Canada and Singapore. Not much can be done in 7 days.
Go to canada and transfer into a good american college…

I didn’t understand what you meant by that.

Not a very wise thing to say on a very popular public forum especially when you have already mentioned your name in the past  justsaying
