I have an American accent with bits of a normal anglicized Indian one. Recently people said I pronounce some words in a British accent. I have no clue why. I think overall I have a pretty American one.

Nope. Supposedly, he had lived in Bangalore all his life haha. It might just be that the privileged class has a slightly different accent, like in NYC and Boston. I think you might be generalizing the accents. Either way, it was very different from the ones you usually hear from new immigrants.

My accent’s a mix of British and N.American with a bit of Asian (thanks to a year I spent there) so it’s really weird. I’ve been told it resembles an Australian accent. :/

I’m sorry, but that’s a pretty dumb thing to say. How can you assume to know which ‘class’ I am talking about?
And “slightly different” would be an understatement. You have to hear the s. indian accent to understand what a huge understatement that is.

Oh arun, mine would be more of accentless and Brit combi?
Let’s move on from accent discussion. I cannot believe we (I?!) spent a page and half discussing accents.
Bubbles should have been here. Why can’t she post anymore?

LOL no that’s not what I meant! I meant to say that he might have been trying too hard to sound ‘local’. He might have been faking it like certain people in certain places do.

Pixie, don’t be mean. I am dying of nervousness here lol.

I was wondering that too. Where is jbubbles123?

Although it did not look like that’s what you meant, I understand that it might have come out phrased wrongly in nervousness. Why don’t you jog for some time? It helps me, although I couldn’t run to save my life. Which is funny because I can definitely swim for hours to the end.

^I think her posting priviledges have been revoked. Why Idk. If it was over that long ago fight, it should have become ok by now. It is quite puzzling.

Because it’s freezing outside and I am too nervous to leave the waiting room lol.

She has supposedly received several infractions. But she always resumes posting after everyone so I guess with this one they decided to ban her permanently?

I still have trouble differentiating between Accents. I mean, English is English ryt

I hav a habit of pronouncing Z as ‘zee’ not ‘zed’. And my classmates always make a mickey outta me for that. similarly I say ‘O’ instead of ‘Zero’ while calling out the number.

Lol, winters here for me mean snuggling in my blanket, reading on the e-book on my mobile, mostly Harry Potter or twilight. Sometimes I take up sydney sheldon too. I think I hav read Deathly hallows over 17 times now. Its been like 3 years since it was released, now that I think abt it. It was my ‘14 on 14’ gift (My birthday falls on 14, and I turned 14). Its specially close to my heart. I cried when fren and tonks died tho… sniffles Fred was my crush back then…too bad he died.

Meghna, you are from Delhi.

The ‘V’s sounding like W’s’ accent that you get to hear occasionally is pretty funny. :P

Anyways, I am up guys! :D

Talk to y’all later!

Uh don’t remind me of running. I haven’t run in ages. I keep excusing myself because of ‘the cold’. I feel like such a slob
Ooh Pixie you swim! How long have you been swimming for?
I STILL can’t tell the difference between an Irish and Scottish accent. Like I can recognize them when they’re apart, but I can’t differentiate them to the point that I can actually imitate and demonstrate. It annoys me.
Good luck again R!

I have received one. The PM accompanying it said that accumulation many infractions (points) would lead to restriction of posting privileges, PMs, Visitor Msgs and can lead to permanent banning from CC.

Nemo, I started swimming in class three. I regret that I did not take it upto a competitive level and instead did TT. In college I hope to work on my swimming.
My sources tell me board datesheet comes out in last week of December!

But swimming here specially nationals is quite unhygienic from what I heard. TT nationals conditions were bad enough. My friend who was a national level swimmer fell very ill after nationals leading to her leaving it.

What @ pixie Wat do u mean? I m from Delhi?

Good morning/evening everyone! Sorry, I am late.

p’tondreams, good luck with your production.

pixie, I felt the same way about south Indian accent. You can tell their mother tongue from the way they speak English. Malayalam speaking people tend to use z for s … Tamilians make distinct ‘L’ sound which I can never reproduce.

Bengaluru is like a melting pot but dominated by Tamil speaking people. Kannadigas, IMHO, are a timid bunch. So, if you go to coastal region it is different. What I have noticed is that some north Indians have this tendency to say ‘e’ before ‘s’. e-state, e-schools, e-station, …

Generally, people who attend “convent” schools in India have a very clear and nice accent. I love it.

the free vikings game was fun!

hi rox! u like american football?

omg tippu, you have no idea how much I laughed on reading this. I wasn’t expecting this to come up in your post?
Hm, that would the wannabe’s. Here I go. N. Indian elitism exists over other n. indians too. No really, you wouldn’t hear anybody from a well educated family pronouncing the words like that. It’s hilarious.
So what are you doing in hols? Are your exams over? (when do you guys have exams in america anyway?)

Talking about pets, my 15 lb fat cat is perched on my shoulder and purring as I type this. He is very nice most of the time except when we brush the dog. He comes in between and nudges the dog away.
