Aniruddh-I know you were referring to 26/11 (May the deceased rest in peace), but I didn’t comment on that on purpose. My views on 26/11 are too politically incorrect to be aired on a public forum.
Even though I disagree, thank you for that. I’m ok at writing, although you won’t believe how lazy I am when it comes to typing up whatever’s in my head. It’s ridiculous. Then I start imagining plans of machines that can convert brain signals to words directly without an external input device. O technology, thou hast spoilt me so.

I think that if someone really wants to help India they should become a lawyer and try rectifying the judicial system.
And you don’t always have to be politically correct, nemo. You CAN air your views here. No one is stopping you :P

Believe me, you don’t want it to be red. It’s not the beautiful rich red. I haven’t got a chance to see the shade of purple, but I personally think yellow is the best of them all. It’s cheerful and nice! Plus from what I saw of people wearing it, it makes you look okay too. Every second school has purple/red. We’re the lucky ones! (If we get in that is)

Since we’re on the topic of clothes/colors, (DISCLAIMER: guys, you can stop reading. Girly talk ahead!:p) I got my Farewell sari! It’s bottle green! You ever worn one?

^I’ll believe you. As long as it’s not that eye-watering shade of yellow. And heaven forbid if it’s satiny yellow. I might actually dye it black in a fit of protest (If I get in that is). I didn’t want it to be Green because my school’s graduation color is green, and I don’t want to graduate in Green twice
Bottle green sounds cool! That was the color of my first (and only) sari. I’ve only worn a sari once, and I hate it. I’m normally not this polarized on anything, but I could barely walk in the thing and it was bloody humiliating. I love the sari as a garment and on other people, I just can’t bring myself to wear it.

Haha!
And that’s something I’m slightly worried about too. Combine that with stilettoes and you have a walking catastrophe. I think I’m going to grab onto the most easily manipulated of my friends and hang onto him for dear life.
Or not wear stilettoes. Heaven knows I don’t have time or the interest to shop for them.

Where did you wear it? Don’t you have cultural nights or something at your school? I hear international schools have that?

Stilettos are nice. Painful, but nice. Although I wouldn’t recommend if you’re not comfortable with a sari. Try kitten heels perhaps?
I wore it in India actually, for this function. We do have an International Day here, it’s like a parade where most nationalities sign up and represent their country. I wear a suit then, never a sari. They have free food stalls with food from every nation. It’s one of the nicest school days In my old school it was celebrated on UN day on 24th October.

You need to purchase a if-you-don’t-like-it-then-don’t-read-it policy. Anyway, the bit about the most manipulated of my friends was interesting. Sorry girls, please carry on. My eyes are shut. ;)

Hi guys!! I’m still in Miami. Going back to NYC tom - YAYYYYYYYYYYY!

Haha I’ve missed SO much…

From what I’ve picked up…
Pton - Sorry to hear that! Their loss I guess. You’re aspiring for a career in Wall Street?
Nemooooooo - I love your posts. Haha. You have interesting views. You should be a lawyer! Btw, I got the HP pics. I’ll upload em later. Also, one of my friends got into Middlebury! And another got into Williams! I can send you the Middlebury essay if you’d like…her essay was amazing and her grades def were not the reason she got in. Vermont is very cold btw…
Pixie- Haha you wear saris? My aunt wants me to wear one for her wedding…I can barely put it on Saris are so pretty though!

Also, regarding UNC & Duke (pix I know youre applying there)- my cousin says they are FULL of Indians…I guess they’re Indian-Americans? Haha, I know a lot of you RI don’t like to consider us NRI’s actual Indians…

Also Pton - I’m interested in Stanford for med.
Stanford premed is rape though…

Oh and I have yet again changed my “dream college”
I have decided to stop being a prestige whore and be more mature in my college selection.

*Bubbles
Pixie & 'Nemo - You both are also interested in Wellesley right?
My counselor went to W, and she LOVED her experience there. She keeps telling us how much she loved Wellesley more than her experience at Stanford (she went there for grad).

I think most of my male friends are more into clothes than me.
And yes, they’re heterosexual.

Arunemo- Stilettoes are damn complimenting! It’s going to take time to learn how to walk in them though, I guess? I’ll talk to you about this later. It’s in early Feb.
We’ve all been there bubbles. It’s Junior year, of course your choices keep changing! So take your time to figure out which place you’re really meant for!

And just like you, this is the first time I’m going to be wearing one. It’s in the dress code see? Makes me feel so grown up already.
What your counsellor said about Wellesley is exactly what my interviewer said too! The alumni all really love the school, and it shows.
^I’m torn b/w delhi and bangalore.
I consider the ones who retain their culture as actual Indians. Specially the ones who know more about our culture than actual indians themselves. :)

Really? My experience here on CC tells me that it is not true. Who cares for labels as long as you are in a friendly company that shares many interests?

I want to visit Delhi and rest of northern India some day. I also want to learn Hindi - I think it is a beautiful language but I am afraid I can never figure out the gender with ka and ki. I always get it wrong and my mom finds it very amusing.

And yeah. Really, I was a prestige whore. My list was basically all the top 30 schools before. Now I cut that down by a lot. And I’m glad. I really need to choose a school where I’ll thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I’m only limiting my choices to schools in Cali, NY, MA, PA, NJ, and NC. I want to have a wonderful ug experience that will prepare for me for elite medical schools. I think that’s the most important thing.

My stats suck. Idk what I was thinking applying to HYPSM + the rest of top 30 schools before.

I think UCLA is a perfect fit for me but I want to visit so bad…

Hahaha yeah, LAC students really tend to have a passion for their school.
