I want to visit Kashmir as well. And also, Chennai.

Tippu hows the Indian population in Texas? It’s so large in NY - you guys should all come to the India Day Parade in NY (It’s usually the day of or day after Indian Independence Day). Last year, we had Jay Sean and Shilpa Shetty (fellow south indian and SO pretty) perform. This year we had Preity Zinta and someone else.

And haha don’t get me started on my Hindi. I want to learn Hindi so bad!!
Mere hindi bohoooooottt karab hai.

bubbles, I don’t know much about Indian crowd in Texas. Our family doesn’t really care for any organized religious activities and we are not much into Bollywood stuff. (IMHO, it is too gaudy.) We do go to a few Indian classical dance/music concerts every year.

We do watch a few Hindi movies. It feels like we watch them twice - my mom fast forwards whenever there is dance scene and dad doesn’t like to watch anything but dance/song scenes. It ends up being a tug of war with the remote controller.

I agree about the gaudy part. A few films by smaller stars are turning out quite good in the way of actual storyline and humor from what I hear though.

I don’t get why it’s raining in December here. It’s as ridiculous as eating noodles with a spoon. (which I’m sure we’ve all tried to do at some point of life)

HAHAHA Tippu, that is funny! I like watching the whole movie - and I especially love the dance/song scenes. But with some movies (Krrish, Billu Barber), I just fast forward to the dance/song scenes.

It’s snowing in NY. Well, it has stopped now, but there on the 26th - there was almost 10 inches of snow.

I <3 Stanford too hahaahhahaha.
And, UCLA is not prestigious at all eh :P

And…

Haha that’s really cute.

Annnnd. So guys, I’m getting my username changed to perfectpixel. Stupid admin needs to approve it. Let’s see. I’ll threaten leaving cc or something… Hopefully he’ll change it then haha.

I really feel like sharing something and I can’t tell any of my irl friends this

Nvm. Stupid username.

Hmmm guys, what are your new year plans? Me going to hard rock with friends.

Oh and I had made it a point to not get obsessed with a single college during my college selection. I have kinda started loving Penn though. It’s just the place for me… Too bad its so selective for indians! Only the beeeessstttttt of the best get in :(

Bollywood movies are generally unrealistic and kitschy, but like Pixie said there are several new directors who actually make good movies with a solid storyline that’s very different from the usual YRF Cotton Candy movies. So it’s not all bad
Pixie-It does, but you should start off with smallish ones (2-2.5 inches) to get a hang of it. There’s a certain knack in wearing them so you can ignore the pain altogether (till you take it off of course). I’m assuming you won’t be wearing very high ones? If not, you should be fine.
Everyone loves Wellesley! The alumna I met here couldn’t stop raving about how much she loved her time there. She attended Harvard Business School, but she mostly talked about Wellesley and Harvard only came up once in her entire monologue.
Tippu & Bubbles-Do you not know Hindi? I thought you guys did! Don’t worry about the ka and ki thing, I ALWAYS used to get it wrong till about 2 years ago when it finally clicked. Haha. This is why I’m such an advocate of gender-less languages like Angrezi, it makes so much more sense
Bubbles-That’s cool, congrats to your friend! Yes you can send it to me if you want, I’ll read it even though I’m already done with my CommonApp.
People are getting in to amazing colleges left and right! My friend whom I first met in 3rd grade applied to around 12, with some Early Action, and she’s already been accepted to Loyola of Chicago (a safety), Fordham, Boston College, and UofChicago. No rejections so far, it’s been a pretty good streak knocks on wood. And of course, all you smart cookies on the Indian thread as well :)

*Bubbles
Yes, Tippu - that’s indeed what it is. Haha.

I’m tryna make a bunch of new year’s resolutions that I’m hoping I’ll stick too. :p

Pixie good luck!

Wellesley is an amazing school. And don’t worry about the single-sex situation. You’re in Boston, girl. You can cross-register with co-ed schools and there will be plenty of opps to meet boys. Also have single sex classes will keep you more focused. :p

I recently just met someone from GTech. He likes the school…just not the 70/30 ratio haha.
