Haha, I’m not really acquainted with Indian Classical Dance, but my cousin does Kathak or something like that. And I had a few friends who did/do Bharatnatyam.

My New Year resolutions, in no particular order-
Take at least one photo every day (Project 365).
Travel to Turkey at some point.
Get accepted to at least one college.
Pass the IB.
Try not to commit suicide.
Try not to joke about committing suicide.
Buy birthday presents on time.
Take out more time to run and play more badminton.
Make and sell Vegan cupcakes for charity.
Go skydiving after my 18th.

I’m a bit frazzled, after going through an endless cycle of supplements, Common App, supplements, and Extended Essay. Currently I’m on Extended Essay, and I’m in a mood to go back in time and strangle Margaret Atwood so that she never got around to writing her books.
My New Year’s was great, to whoever asked. I had a bit of a champagne coma in the morning though
Pixie-I’m doing Find X as well. I really like the dissolve one too, and the two types of people. I actually had a quote for that one-
My argument was too abstract though, and it would take too long to plan and write.
Tippu and Pix, how did you write your Why Chicago essay? I keep thinking of that example that the dean sent via email, and I honestly cannot think of anything half as creative
Does anyone else here have writer’s remorse? I do. I read my Common App after submitting it to most of my colleges, and I literally felt like crying. It sounds so cliched, I don’t know what possessed me to submit it in the first place. I pity the colleges that don’t get a supplementary essay from me (Strangely enough, my supplements were much more fun to write than my CA one). I can envision that rejection from Middlebury already.
The damage is done, I suppose.
Sorry, pouring out my woes before returning to my hibernation in the EE grotto. Catch you guys later, and good luck for your pre boards, whoever has them!

No one cares. It’s expensive to go live in the USA and a “CUNY” education is just not worth the cost. India has amazing schools, just so you know. If someone goes to a CUNY, it’s just to go to the USA or whatever.

Meghna, some schools with rolling admissions like SUNY Buffalo and Penn State don’t have Jan 1 deadlines.

This friend of mine who applied to UoC wrote an essay on the same quote.

And I think my essays are cliched too. I did submit an additional Common App essay in the Additional Information section for the commonapp RD colleges that I applied to- Penn and CMU.

^Well then, thank goodness I didn’t use that prompt. Find X it is (the premise for this is ridiculously cliched as well-hopefully I can reveal enough about my character for them to get over the unoriginality).

I know but not everyone wants to live in India. You have your beliefs. I think CUNYs are great for people who want to “start over.”

'Nemo, for some reason, I think you’ll be accepted to Yale. I can just imagine you writing on this thread 4ish months from now about your Yale/Midd/Wellesley/etc. acceptances.

I love the “Find X” prompt. You guys all know Prof. Sally right? My friend who created that question said his class (that he had when he went during visiting weekend or w/e) with Prof. Sally inspired that prompt.

NO MIDNIGHTSANITY/JBUBBLES. NO ONE SAYS MY NAME AND THE A-WORD IN THE SAME SENTENCE. Bad juju! You’ve probably jinxed it now! frantically knocks over everything and touches wood everywhere
Seriously. Don’t. It’s gonna hurt all the more when April comes around.
I can’t believe I’m a senior ready to graduate in about 6 months. When did this happen, and how do I make it stop?

P.S. A cheer and a hug for anyone who gets the reference in the last line there.

haha juju? my sis says that. Ah, well I hope you do! You seem like such a nice, humble person. You deserve it. It’d be a shame for any college that doesn’t accept you.

I recently watched an episode of Grey’s with that word, hence the odd lingo
I’m really flattered bubbles, seriously, and thank you for that, but once again I’d rather not talk about it. It’s nerve wracking enough that I have to wait 4 months, I’m trying to forget the fact that at any given moment, a random person in an office overflowing with papers has my entire fate in his/her hands.

So very true. I love my grandparents to pieces (possibly more than my parents, ha). They never fail to cheer me up.
Yes bubbles, I try to live by that too. It’s funny, because when it comes down to it I’m the one who pressures myself, since my parents aren’t hell bent on me attending an Ivy or such.

I have given up all my hopes and dreams. I will apply wherever, and I will go to the best university I get into and then I’ll start preparing for medical school.

^Haha. For a sec there, I thought you were referring to me as your worst enemy…I was like o.O

It’s what happens when one comes to grips with reality. I mean it’s all right I suppose. I’ll go to an undergrad where I’ll be happy (doesn’t have to be top 20) and then aim for elite medical schools. It’ll all work out, I hope.

TippuSultan, you’re a nice kid. Really.

Just wondering, what do you plan to do after undergrad? MBA?
(I remember you mentioning you want to apply to Stanford in 3-4 years)
