There is no limit, theoretically but the application website limits to about 27?
The minimum is one.
Common app limit is 20.

How much can you afford?
In my opinion, it’s a good idea to apply to at least six, and a waist of time and money to apply to more than twelve. But it’s a little different for everyone.
Keep in mind that the number of schools you apply to is not nearly as important as having a range of selectivities (reach, match, safety). You may think that the more schools you apply to, the better chance you have of getting into one. But you basically have the same chances whether you’re applying to five or fifteen highly selective schools.
^international students’situation. depends on whether they’re full pay or need financial aid - and how much .
The more the acceptance rate of a college, the greater is the chances of getting in.
Is the above mentioned line true?
Depends if you’re full pay or not. For an international student applying to a need-aware college, the line above isn’t true, since the odds are affected by their ability to pay.
I think it’s far less important to know “how many” than “which ones.”
Find schools that look as though they’ll accept you, that accept a lot of international kids with stats like yours, that have a high acceptance rate, that you can afford without aid, that you think you’ll like.
How to know which universities accept more international students?
Google the Common Data Sets for the schools you’re considering.
(Some are here: http://collegelists.pbworks.com/w/page/30192726/Common%20Data%20Sets ) but Google will get you the others.
Then you have to search a little. I randomly chose Columbia (in NYC) and was able to find “Headcount Enrollment by Ethnicity & Citizenship” easily.
Section “B2” refers to “non-resident aliens.” I’m totally new at all this, but I imagine that’s the number you want to look at.
