To Which Schools Did Your School Valedictorian Get Accepted?

the val from last year went to UGA. And she didn’t apply to any better schools either! The only reason she was val was because she took easy classes (3 APs, the minimum for eligibility, and no gifted classes). She was a total b!tch, and luckily cooler heads prevailed at the graduation because many students planned to boo her when her name was called. The salutatorian (aka the peoples’ valedictorian lol) is at Yale.

I know she applied to all the Ivy colleges, plus Notre Dame & Stanford…haven’t talked to her since acceptance letters would have come out from those places, so I’ll have to find out and get back to this thread!

2006 - a Baptist college
2007 (my sister) - University of Pennsylvania, but accepted to WUSTL and Duke; wait-listed at Columbia and Northwestern
2008 - in-state public
2009 - same as above
2010 - out-of-state public flagship; most likely received substantial scholarship money
2011 (me) - Yale, but accepted to UPenn (Wharton), WUSTL, Duke, and Emory; wait-listed at Columbia, Harvard, and Cornell

This school seems unnaturally pattern-prone.

Interesting case here. Our valedictorian was distinguished by a sky-high GPA and a cramming of extra curriculars, but nothing else that stood out from the crowd of us (our top ten all being within a hair’s width of each other). Was accepted to Johns Hopkins, Washington University, and Ohio State University, but waitlisted and rejected at every Ivy and then some. Many of the rest of us actually got better results, but no “uber-Ivy+” namely HYPSM. A bit of a disappointment, but much stronger overall results than any other year.

Val-Penn
Sal-Yale
Me-Brown/Dartmouth

our GPAs are literally within 0.02 of each other

Last year, my high schools valedictorian went to Ferris State University, props to anyone who even knows where that is at.

One of my better friends had a brother go to Harvard 2 years ago, but he’s on the football team. Wouldn’t be surprised if my friend went to Harvard for his sport.

the real question should be… what colleges did the V of your school get accepted to? Because the school they chose and the schools they were accepted to can vary. Many students chose the schools with the most scholarship awards. finances plays a big part in the decision process

okay, so updated. val accepted to…

We have two valedictorians and one is going to Penn and the other Georgetown. I’m not really sure about Sals but I think one of them is going to USC.

From what I remember the two Vals both applied to Stanford, Berkeley, and George Washington U. Both did get into Berkeley, but rejected at Stanford and waitlisted at George Washington.

Apart from these two there aren’t many people from my school who go these top schools. We have someone go to HYP every so often, but most stick with our in state school University of Washington.

Long list lol

Out of about 200. I kid you not.

Val’s going to UGA which usually lures most of the school’s top students, though, two years ago the Val went to Davidson.

Okay, time to update.
Idk where they got accepted, but they’ve decided to attend…

Val: Notre Dame
Sal: MIT

This year’s valedictorian got recruited by a bunch of top schools (Stanford, Yale, Georgetown, etc.) and is going to Harvard for track. The sal is going to Lehigh. The junior class valedictorian is graduating early and going to Drew for musical theater.

I don’t know exactly all the places my valedictorian got accepted. I think it was to: UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, Emory, UVA, UPenn and she got waitlisted at Brown. I think she got rejected from MIT. She is going to go to UPenn in the fall :)

The sal of my class only applied to three schools: Brown, MIT and NC State. She only got in to NC State, but her family is moving back to India, so she is going to go to university in India in the fall and then transfer to the National University in Singapore.

Valedictorian (Me): Princeton (and accepted to Cornell).
Salutatorian: Yale (and accepted to UCLA, Colgate, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, UPenn).

Very unusual for a South African school… :)

3rd and 4th go to the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witwatersrand, respectively…

My former high school (I have since become home-schooled) val went to Oxford med. The rest of the top five are going to Oxbridge as well. 6-th: Berkeley (accepted at Oxford too though) and 7-th: Berkeley.
