My parents had the Mateus wine bottle with wax on it. We moved overseas in 1967 and had house servants, who dutifully scrubbed all that wax off and proudly let my mom know how clean it now was.

Nah, not true. My Gen Z kids love matching PJs. I’m the one who wears yoga pants and a t-shirt to bed, but my 25 year old must have 5 or 6 sets of matching button down Pjs.

Looking at the Met Gala photos and realizing there were so many “celebrities” I had never heard of! And not loving the “naked” dresses. Definitely made me feel old!

Or to Trader Joe’s! When H and I walk though the UCSD campus to go to the beach H will comment how people must have been running late for class since so many are in PJ’s.

Saw the Eagles in concert the other night an lived vicariously through the music as a 25 year old, and then the lights came on - geeeze, I was surrounded by old people. Sadly, I was one of them.

But I feel cool to be among those who experienced the first Star Wars movie when it first came out. None of these newby fans can say that! And I was recently at a 50th anniversary symposium of my grad school program and people who were among the first in the program were talking about their careers and all the new technology they adapted to, from starting with using mainframe computers. And I felt proud that those in my cohort had been so good at adapting and learning new technology over and over. Without the aid of AI!

I’m going to Chicago next weekend. S lives there and we have some fun things planned (we like a lot of the same things). But he drew a hard line at my suggestion of attending a show featuring the music of Burt Bacharach!
