Today's reminder that I'm OLD

I received that Lemon Up for a gift last year and have been enjoying the nostalgic chemical lemon smell! But I do think my hair looks just a tad lighter now.

Today’s reminder that I’m OLD…is that I waited for over an hour for the gas station attendant at a self-service pump.

Also, I still refer to them as the Cleveland Indians and the Washington Redskins.

Don’t forget about the Oakland/Sacramento/Las Vegas Athletics!

And the Big Ten has ten teams.

I have been cycling very hard since my spinal surgery in September. I discovered that I was low on iron – which meant I was not getting enough oxygen into my muscles. While I await an iron transfusion next week, I have been eating lots of red meat and cycling outdoors (using a heart monitor to ensure my heart rate stays low). Well, eating the red meat has caught up with me and I have what I think of as an old people’s disease: gout. Going to the doc today (complex because I need to get a Canadian prescription from a Canadian doc as my US doc’s prescription won’t work here).

Some people are genetically prone to gout at younger ages.

Regarding iron deficiency, some ways other than red meat to get more iron include cooking food (especially acidic food like tomato-based sauces) in cast iron pots and consuming vitamin C containing foods with vegetable sources of iron.

Talk about old- I went to opening day at Shea Stadium!! The superintendent of schools was sitting right behind me. I thought I was going to be arrested for playing hooky!

Hopefully, the transfusion will help me solve the problem, but in the short run, maybe pasta with tomato sauce but no meat or Tofu based asian meal. ls. Need the Vit C to absorb the iron.

Saw a Canadian NP yesterday, got my prescription and got my shot and am feeling much better. Need to take my pills this AM

We just moved my wife’s father into a retirement home. Some of the people asked if I’m a new resident. I can’t look THAT old…:fearful:

When we used to visit my folks at their CCRC, my H’s classmates who were residents there would urge us to sign up (they accepted folks as young as 55). We smiled but declined.

Today, we told the APRN our S was here for his 20th HS reunion. The APRN said his youngest is graduating HS, so they will be becoming empty nesters. Haha, we remember those days. Our “kids” come & go as they please and visit multiple times/year but only LIVED extensively for us for a year during covid. Otherwise, they’ve lived elsewhere since graduating HS/starting college in 2006/2009.

My husband went for his annual physical and had to answer cognition questions!

A family member in their 80s had a witty remark recently: when a doctor says “come back in 6 months” he’s happy—they think I’ll still be around in 6 months! When they say “don’t bother coming back”, it makes them wonder……

My good friend moved to Colorado and had to get all new doctors. She was so offended when they asked her to draw a clock! lol She is still in her 50s, but better safe than sorry, I guess.

On Reddit, someone posted a photo of their great-grandfather in WWII. Ha, my FIL served in WWII! Talk about feeling old! I have a great-grandfather who was born in 1836!

Did she draw a digital or analog clock?

Or one that is melting to make a point about her persistence of memory?

I’m dreading being asked to draw a clock, ha. I am SO BAD at drawing anything. My brain just freezes. It’s probably some kind of condition…
