Tomorrow is halloween, are you handing out candy?

One per customer! We just sit on the porch steps and keep handing out treats. It is a constant parade of families with never more than a 30 second lull. They start buying ahead of time and get those big bags at Sam’s or Costco and I bring some extra when I go over.

I’ve changed my avatar to a picture taken from their porch.

@my-3-sons Sounds like fun! Where do your kids live? Does everyone in the neighborhood have 12 kids or do folks flock to the neighborhood for treats?

Had the same problem as @4kids4us. Not a single kid. At least we didn’t open the candy. But did get a cute picture of my 17 month old grandson dressed as boss baby. Thank you to my DIL for sending that; we’re far away.

Yes, how many homes in this neighborhood? Ours has over 400 homes and lots of families in other ones come. The houses on the main streets only get about 200 to 300 at the very most.

@NJres They are in a large planned community in SC. They live on a beautiful tree lined street that leads right to the town square…ground zero for their community. Everyone from the different neighborhoods goes to their street for any community holiday events.

What happened tonight? We had perfect weather, and only 7 customers after 25 or so last year. Others in town had the same experience. I’m sooo confused.

My favorite was the little boy who asked for a second goodie bag for his mother–and then I heard the mother yell from the street, “Just one!!” What a hustler!

We had about 20 groups. As usual, a couple of big groups of toddlers, with parents in costumes, and all pulling plastic wagons.More teenagers than last year, all with fun costumes. A trio of boys, including Colonel Sanders with a Bucket of Chicken. I don’t know who the other boys were supposed to be, but when I opened the door, they all saluted, and stayed in character. I wish there were more kids! As stated above, it’s a holiday about neighborhoods. I’ve lived here for 36 years, before we had kids, and now without kids, and I’d really love to see the tradition continue.

I wonder if Walmart will take back unopened bags of candy or not? No idea where the receipt would be though.

This is the first year I have had security cameras, and not a single person came by, not even one that passed through the driveway or on the sidewalk in front of the driveway. Darn, I was prepared to even scare some of the kids on the camera intercom. Ah nothing like quiet time at work after 4pm…

I think I ate too many Swedish Fish., :-&

Had TWO teen trick o” treaters. They were young teens

Chewy sweetarts were good as was the Costco candy @intparent.

We had just under 100 kids. We gave out the candy with Costco playdough packs.

Oh, we do give candy to teens because we would rather have them doing children’s activities, than drinking or doing something else that could be hurtful, mean, or dangerous.

Our numbers were down this year-we had about 100, but there are leftover Hershey bars in the house. Oh well, we recently ought a firepit so we can use them for S’Mores when our kids are here at Thanksgiving (if they last that long  )
My neighbor came over and sat with me on my steps which was great, we caught up on a lot.

If you know any teachers or people who work in schools they may take your leftover candy to save for games, rewards, etc. My son teaches junior high/high school and will stock up on after Halloween candy to have a stash for the next few months in his classroom.

I’m handing mine out to my college students today. Otherwise my H would take them to his high school students, but we decided they were more likely to have their own bags of.

Bummer. We only had about 30-40 kids - that last trick-or-treater got a ton of KitKats/Snickers/Skittles. His eyes got as big as saucers when we dumped the candy bowl into his treat bag,

When I got down to 5 I stopped. I was worried more than that would show up at my door. Lights went out at 7:45…almost made it.

We had 32 which is the low end of normal for us. It was cute seeing how excited some of them got about the full sized candy.

@abasket

Make sure you ask those teachers if candy is allowed. In all of the schools where I work…no one is allowed to hand out candy. There is a very well enforced healthy foods policy. Plus allergies.

We had one. The weather was perfect and I bought the 5.6 pound bag of candy from Costco. Ugh.

I know a young middle school teacher so I will check if she wants it.

1100 halloweeines served at neighbors. Stopped when we ran out about 9:45
